Headlight/Tail-light tint/spray...

Anyone have good experience with a headlight/tail light tint or spray application?

Looking to get rid of the yellow corners on the headlights of my 135i, running indicators, and the white strip on the bottom of my 2012's tail lights...

I have heard of black foil and sprays but does any of this stuff have draw backs?

VHT spary works if you take your time and can wetsand. If you ave never painted anything before then I would not recommend it. It will come out looking dull and like crap. Body shops can usually tint headlights and taillights. I have a friend locally that does an amazing job with candy paints and clear coats them. He charges $200 a set but it is by far the best work I have ever seen. As soon as I get the chance, he is going to do my tails for me. he did the ones on my GTO.

Like he said VHt night shades is the best. But u do have to b patient. The first time I ever did it it looked terrible. Uneven runs and dull. But by the third time I had it down. By the time I did it on my last car I was so good I didn't need to take the lights off the car unless they were very odly shaped. Just taped around em with painters tape an news paper. But if ur n area where wind may blow take em off cuz u don't want overspray. Also throw a clear coat on em afterward. But ya practice on a piece of plastic or something first and if u screw up alcohol and elbow grease will take it off but the plastic of ur light will bea bit dull afterward from the alcohol. Also this stuff works great for like if u wanna make something blk chrome sense it's transparent when u paint silver surfaces the shine still comes through its pretty cool. Used it on grills and badging before for blk chrome look

The VHT works great. I've done about a dozen sets of tails with it, BUT even when you do the best job possible, it will still look 'backyard' when you get up close. Like Mike said, a body shop can tint them by mixing some color with clear coats, giving you a SEMA quality finish if they are good at what they do. All comes down to budget. IMHO, If you haven't done it before... a 1 series is not the car to learn on

P.S. I can't speak for foil/film tints

This topic comes up from time to time - you might search for more examples. Here is how they come out if painted by a shop. my guy mixed some clear with gloss black and shot it a few times till the desired effect. Then wet sanded and shot again with just clear. They look fantastic, can be waxed to shine em up etc.

Some a-hole did that one my old Civic beater. If you ever decide to sell the car outright, that may turn off prospective buyers.

The LED in my passenger side taillight went out. Dealer cost for a set of taillights was around $750.

That being said, I'm not spraying anything on taillights that cost that much.
