JB4 on top of Dinan?
So this may fall into the category of "why bother?" for some people, but hear me out:
Jb4 is a piggyback, as we all know. It works by tweaking A/F parameters and readings and essentially fooling the ECU into doing things it wouldn't normally do (in a nut shell - there's no need to counter with specifics of what exactly it does and how it does it). JB4 is designed to piggyback off of the stock tune. Some people have used it over a PPK, but as we know, PPK is fairly mild, so it isn't that different form the stock tune. My question is this: what would the JB4 do if piggybacked to a DInan Stage 2 or other more aggressive flash tune? Would it: A: Not do much, since it would only be adjusting boost and A/F ratios based on the stock tune for which it was programmed (essentially providing the same boost and power as it would on a stock car)? B: Boost the same amount it normall would (say, +6-8 psi) on top of the Dinan boost levels, resulting in much higher (possibly dangerous or engine-killing) levels of boost and power than normal? C: Get confused, shit the bed, and throw a code without doing much for power? School me, someone!

JB4 will reset signals as it basically wants, to provide tuned power outputs based on fuel pressure and flow, afr, spark, airflow, temperatures, timing, octane, and wastegate position and cycling. In other words, JB4 will override most of the flash settings.
However, you may be able to edit the Dinan flash to work fluently with the JB4 by using tunerpro. This in essence is what a BEF is. I don't know enough to tell you how to do it, or even if it's worth it (or possible, I'd assume the dinan flash is locked). If I recall correctly, BMS halted production of N55 backend flashing due to DME limitations and lack of respective gains. So if you do this, I'd expect smoother operation, but probably not more power over the JB4 alone. From this, I'd wager on the N55, best gains are probably to be had through full standalone custom flashing rather than as JB4+Flash with the N54. Best place for N55 tuning info, especially related to the JB4 or custom flashing: http://www.n54tech.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16

Thanks for the reply. Pretty much what I expected.
I am considering this option only to use the additional functionality the JB4 comes with, including auto code-delete (for DP) and to see if I could get a little extra optimization for adding something like a DP (since the Dinan tune does not adapt for bolt-ons). I am perfectly happy with my Dinan tune - I just want to consider additional options to work with it rather than replace it (besides, my dealer is cool with my Dinan tune because they installed it, so no warranty questions).

Forget Dinan unless you already have it (on my phone, can't see sigs)
Get JB4 and add the BMS Backend Flash. It's designed to work with the JB4 and it's free.

I love how absolutely trouble-free the Dinan is (and the fact that I don't have to hide it from my dealer for warranty work). Just looking for the additional (non-boosting) features of jb4.
