I've had it 13 months, 17000kms, about a dozen track excursions and no breakages. *knocks wood*

N54 - currently 130000km
- HPFP - Waterpump (@ ~112000 km - under CPO warranty) - weather strippings / seals (warranty) - new turbos due to wastegate rattle (@ ~118000 km - under CPO warranty) Needs to be done: - carbon cleaning (I consider it a "fix" more than an maintenance item) - passenger side side mirror does not tilt anymore when in reverse gear - radio screen is unreadable initially when car has been sitting in the sun for long periods - third brake light crack - steering wheel trim peel |

2008 135i, FBO for about 20k miles out of its current 43k. No issues yet. Just regular wear/tear (spark plugs).
I believe the previous owner had the HPFP replaced under recall. |

I think mine is on the way out....half the time doesn't read the CDs and there's an error, other times the CD just flops around in the unit

I had my '09 135i from 6k to 30k miles:
- Leak in rear driver side brake caliper, caused brake fluid to slowly leak (warranty) - Driver side window regulator was dodgy (would occasionally not reset when you opened/closed) but I never had it fixed. Too lazy. My '13 135is has 2500 miles and no problems yet (knock on wood).

Delivered May 2009. Currently 57,000 miles. Here's what's gone wrong:
Faulty tail light LEDs Cracked/dead LEDs in third brake light HPFP x1 Seatbelt tensioner (recall) Steering rack/tie rods Driver side auto-dimming mirror Radio stopped working (needed software update) Passenger side airbag indent (BMW refused to fix) Smelly A/C (BMW sprayed anti-fugal stuff but it still smells intermittently) Clicking/ticking from front wheels (BMW never figured out the problem; eventually went away) That's all I can remember. I guess I'll be adding battery recall to the list shortly. Regardless, I still love the car!

Your car had three periods? what a mess... Quote:
Hit me up on the steering sensor, I diy'd mine for free. Just cleaned the sensor. My car had all the same things go according to the vehicle history, and also... Turbo's/WG's replaced (recall) HPFP replaced (recall) Another injector replaced the other day (diy) Plugs, valve clean On it's way out.. Window rubber sealing is going to shit, I can hear the wind baffling in the cabin at just over 40mph. 3rd brake light is cracking up around edges again. I know I'm forgetting something here... Other than that, she runs strong and is a blast to drive! Last edited by n54door; 03-27-2013 at 09:04 AM.. |

oh man you're local too, what's up.
yeah i have read about the cleaning, i'm just too lazy to take the steering wheel apart. and actually i put my VRSF downpipes on today, not super difficult just time consuming just like everyone says. you guys with the radio problems, are you idrive or no idrive? who did your valve cleaning? were you modded when you brought it in for the turbo/wg replacement? did you have BMW of dallas do it? I ask because I'm getting the howl of death after putting on the downpipes so it's only a matter of time. it seems like the 08s and 09s have the most problems. |

all under warranty...HPFP, turbos, A/C, vacuum lines(if they don't try to cover those b/c they are a "rubber part," argue the fact that rubber gets brittle in a hot environment and question if BMW made their cars to fail knowing that logic)

Seeing all the problems above on such new car, it makes me rethink off adding additional warranty on the car. I have a 2012 1M with 19K with warranty expiring next year.
Warranty + service 60K/2016 = $7,050 is it worth going for the extended warranty???

also how does your warranty expire next year? i thought even m cars were 4 years 50k miles
i wouldn't get the service, your 30k will be covered in the original agreement, your 60k won't, but if you extend it, there's still a chance you won't hit that under the maintenance program, everything else between is just 100 dollar oil changes. |
