http://echoforever.com/communities.p...ES&tid=5&gid=2 As far a a 12.5 , maybe with a 75-100 NOS shot, a great launch, at sea level on a cool night and wider sticker rear tires. That can be done in a weekend. Not that I would ever put NOS in a new $40,000 car. |

it seems like it will do 13.3@106+MPH all day long with almost anyone driving.

I will say a 13.1 with stock everything...including RFT. With just drag radials or slicks....easy 12.6-7.

So I go to look at drag radials on TireRack and run across this in a review for them:
"I don't know the WHP for the car, but the engine is a 622 CID. twin turbo monster throug a Lenco tranny, that puts out about 2400 hp on the crank. I run a spool instead of a diff, and these tires hook up very well on the street and track. I use Hoosier or Goodyear slicks for real strip use, and mostley these for street race, and going to and from the strip. I usually run a high PSI, so the car is somewhat safe and stabil on the street. On this car they work well with 15-17 PSI, depending on the tempereture. I only lower the PSI on the street when we bring a 12v compressor, to re-inflate them for normal driving. Remember to keep car on stands in the garage or remove them from the car if they sit for more than a day!" Remind me not to challenge this guy - PLEASE!! ; -) |

More like unrealistic. My supra put down around 430 rwhp and my best time was a 12.5 @115. People dont realize what it actually takes to shave tenths of seconds off your time. The only way to cut 0.7 off your et in a "stock" 135 will also probably kill your 135. DR's or slicks may cut you down to 13.1 or so. But the math does not compute. 3400 pound car and even an optimistic 320 crank hp doesnt come close to a mid 12 second 1320. With enough mods, ie tuning, DR's, NAWSSS, etc, the 135 could easily become a high 12 second car. Spend enough time watching drag racing and you realize how tough it can be to make a fast car.

That was with drag radials. With regular street tires I ran a 12.6 so I guess you could say I shaved .4 off my times with the right tires. So I think with a good launch on drag radials and some cool air temps a high 12 sec quarter could be pulled off with this car. Not saying it will come easy tho. |

With drag radials, amazing launch, and zero traction breaks through 3rd. Car should pull a 12.9 on the 100th attempt? Optimistic yes, stupid is as stupid does.

Would it be reasonable to infer this thread assumes a Steptronic transmission is the common denominator with these time estimates?

I think it would be much easier to run faster times with an auto, but throw in DRs or slicks, and it's all manual. I don't see it being that far off to see a high 12 with DR or a tune/flash. I can't wait to take mine to the track when I get her. The only thing is I'm over a mile high here...time will look crappy but they have a correction factor. I'll be going home to Houston/San Antonio in July so I'm sure I'll run her at sea level and see what happens.

The runflats are definitely a handicap on the 135i. I plan on switching to michelin PS2's when the stock tires wear out but even then the low profile tires won't be good for drag racing. We really need some dedicated 16" rear wheels with drag radials for the strip.

I think I will use my winter rims for drag rims when I go...I'll just swap out the winter tires for DR.

Very good idea. What are the specs on your winter wheels? Sorry if I missed it in an earlier thread.
