JB3 map selection...how do you know??
I installed the JB3 PnP not too long ago. Though I think I can feel the added pickup, I'm wondering how everyone knows what map they are using? The instructions described the gas pedal technique. Is there a way to know for sure that the JB3 is working?? I'd hate to think I'm driving around with it installed and not effectively using it as the increased quickness I believe I feel is all mental...ie sugar pill effect. Any tips on using the gas pedal technique to ensure the JB3 is in use?

You'll have to buy a mechanical map switcher if you want to know for certain. I can tell quite easily the difference between the maps just based on throttle and acceleration response.

Just count it out. I've gone thru every map up to map 7 forward and back and I've always been on the right map. If you don't feel comfortable with counting it out just buy a boost gauge.

I dont have JB3 yet, but from what I know about it; If you installed it and selected atleast map 3, and cant tell a difference, its probably not working. Its 80hp difference, thats easily felt.

I have wondered this too--but not because I didn't think it was working--just because I have wondered what map I was on at the time.....
You should definitely be able to feel it--it is a big jump....but I am curious--is there a default map on these later versions of the JB3?

Most of the extra hp/tq come above 3000 rpm. You won't feel much different if you baby your car around town, but once it passed 3000 rpm, it is a beast.

We offer this.
Its a boost gauge / IAT gauge / map switcher / tuning gauge. It will let you change maps on the fly and will read out the map selection. http://www.n54tuning.com/index.php?_...d&productId=29 |

I remember with my APR tune on my VW GTi it would flash a light in the instrument cluster when you selected the map to tell you which number you were on.
Maybe they can integrate this into a future chip image? |

It is not about doing it right. A visual indicator of what map is currently on would be nice.
