I'm from ansbach so some what near you, but I'm leaving on the 15th and staying in a hotel that night. I would really look in to it with the loaner.

Can't take rentals (such as Europcar) on the ring from what I understand.... but maybe that's a general guideline, and not something they enforce?

I didn't really see anything about a car that isn't mine or a age limit...

I called USAA and they said that the can send me a letter with the make and model of the car and say its insured under my rental car coverage.

Do they even check that stuff? I know you have to have it in the car but do you have to take it and show it to somebody?

Well looks like I most likely won't be there on the 16th I'm still stuck at ramstein with the guys that are deploying from my kennels cause their plane is still broke down in the states. If I don't make it this weekend I will be going on the 23rd.

On a status update........I am out for sunday. Still not complete re-intsalling all the mods and by best estimate i'll be done late saturday and really don't want to go all beat up to run the track in a beat and tired condition.

Looks like at best, I might try for the 23rd, but no guarantees.

Just got back from the NCOA last night. I might be able to go on the 16th but it all depends on how much we drink on the 15th at Bad Durkheim. I will most likely go on the 23rd and actually DRIVE the ring. Rick, you are more than welcomed to swap the wheels out here. I a lot closer to Spang than Wade is. He is closer to the Ring though. Either way is fine with me. Mi casa es tu casa.

Annnnnnd boom. Looks like I am out as well. Just got word one of my best friends will be in Ramstein on Sunday before they leave for Afghanistan. If anyone is near Ramstein and wants to grab dinner or meet up, let me know, but I am out for the 16th.

I WILL be attending on the 23rd though. Looks like quite a few of us are reverting to that day, should be a good group showing up.

I just fond out that there is a race at the nordschleife Adac masters. Will the nurburgring still be open for tourist drives? The Internet site says its open from 800-1900. :

Yes it will be. They are running that race at the GP circuit.

Anyone know what date they usually open the track?

Or is it open year round pending weather?

Should be back by March and want to take my cousin and brother over the 'ring in March so im curious if it will be open.

So like you guys already know I was at the ring yesterday and did a total of 6 laps. Got there around 1100 was kind of crowded but saw tons of nice cars, will up load some pictures tomorrow. Well my first lap was good no problems, then the horror! Second lap I would say somewhere near the Bergwerk turn I get a warning signal on my dash and it goes in the limp mode, for like 10-30 seconds. So with the jb4 I read the code out and got this 29F2. Googled it when I was finished with the lap. Bla bla bla it’s the fuel pump. Then I changed the map form 5 to 2 on the jb4 went and tested it and again it went to the limp mode, then map 1. So after 3 laps of 10-30 seconds of limp mode I went to map 0 which is the stock map and then it was fine. Now I have to go to the dealer and ask them what’s going on and that they should fix it. But so even with the stock map I had lots of fun and almost got in to an accident with a Porsche gt3rs who was driving like… well like a gt3 should be driven but I got over to the right side, it was somewhere at the beginning guessing NGK schikane a right left turn. But since nothing happen I had a big smile on my face and was like that was awesome. Later that round there I passed a wrecked TTRS in the Bergwerg turn. And so after every lap I hade to wait like 30 minutes because of accidents so yes 5 accidents happened while I was there.
Since it was so much fun I am planning a last visit to the ring next month, because I am leaving back to the stats.
