Anyone looking for an unregistered AW 1M Coupe in the UK?
As the title says - is there anyone in the UK that is on the look out for a brand new (only done around 60 miles), unregistered, Alpine White 1 Series M Coupe?

per the ad.... "The reason for selling this car, is simply because it is not for me, and I will not appreciate is for how special it is! " good luck with the sale Alice.. do you mind clarifying what made you determine that it's not for you? |

If the story is not to be shared, so be it, I was just curious. It is certainly none of our business. I respect that. WB |

Maybe it's because in that car she can't get out of second (or even maybe first) gear without breaking even the highest speed limit on the island and you can't drive more than a couple of km on any road without running into a red light or stop sign? (i.e. the car is completely overkill for where she lives)?

As it says in the advert - the car just doesnt suit me, and I am not happy - simple as that.
I have also seen that the value of my car is basically a deposit on a flat, so maybe it wasnt the wisest thing for a 20 year old to spend her money on! The car is a fantastic car, no doubting that, but when something just doesnt feel right, I dont want all the money tied up in one place. As for the un-registered part - heres the story; I picked it up on May 14th which was a Saturday, the dealer sent all of the registration documents in, I went away to Portual on the Monday, on the Tuesday I had a call from the dealer saying they needed my insurance details to register it - since I was in Portual, I couldn't do this straight away. Over the holiday I made the decision to put it for sale, I have done this as soon as I got back, so I therefore still have not registered it for this reason. So no, its not a loan, tax scam etc etc - Just it doesnt feel right. I was so excited about this car, but didnt turn out as I expected. I have loved this forum all throughout the process though, and I will not be leaving .... I want to see if AR ever get their turbo out, and Vishnu bring a new Fueling system out |

Alice in Wonderland indeed. Unless the laws are different in Guernsey, how did Alice manage to be running about in the car without tax and insurance.
I don't see how this can be her car if it isn't registered to her. Any careful buyer would surely be looking into this. |

I simply have decided the car isn't right for me and therefore going to sell it. As I explained above, the dealer needed my insurance details to register the car, which I could not give them as I was in a different country on holiday! Now I am back, I am holding off registering the car because I am selling it. All tax and insurance has been paid, simply the car has not been registered or driven since I was away on holiday. |

How can you tax and insure a car which doesn't have any identification, eg, a number plate? Don't you have to register the car for that? How did you manage to buy an unregistered car? Also, I ran your spec through the BMW configurator and it comes in at £44,940 and you're asking £49,000? Isn't it only a dealer who can sell a new car? Even if I've got all this wrong, if you've bought the car and now selling it, isn't the car second hand? Last edited by johnsfb; 05-27-2011 at 05:44 AM.. |

Its all about status and you would not believe the motors over here in the Channel Islands. Low tax equals lots of rich people! In Jersey alone, Boxters and Caymans are like the Ford Fiesta's and 911's are common as muck, it needs to be atleast a turbo to be anything remotely special and there are 2 Sport Classics here. Ferarri's a plenty, couple of Scuderia's and 599's and there are now quite a few Gallardo's. Bently Continentals and Astons V8 Vantages are also very popular. All in an island 9 miles by 5 miles with a 40mph upper speed limit with most area's being 30mph! I still remember the morning a few years ago when I heard a F50 in town, long before it drove past me and that same day saw an XJ220 drive past me with the number plate J220. Its great for us common folk enthusiasts to get up close with some tasty metal. My 1M is coming in August and i'm heading to the Spa F1 GP at the end of that month and with continental europe only a 1 hour boat ride away, there are plenty of reasons to own a fast car for driving purposes. |
