Yes and no. In a straight 0-60 it's almost a tie but the 1M is harder to launch. If you have traction control on the torque works against you. MDM is your best bet but it will also slow you down.
If you turn TC off and don't know what you are doing you will break the rear loose and slam into the M3 before taking out some light poles. If you are the Stig and have TC off and you are going against a MT M3 you might win. In a low speed rolling situation where you both jump on it, the 1M is faster until you get to high speed like 80 then the high revving V8 comes into its own and will catch up and pass you. So at normal around town situations the 1M is quicker if you manage traction but the M3 rules the high speed stuff in stock trim. That is what makes the 1M special .... It's a blast at the speeds we normally drive in the US whereas the M3 comes into its element at higher speeds and revs. So enjoy you 1M but respect the M3, it's a great machine with different strengths. |

For those who might not know...
What Is 'IBTL'?
IBTL is an obscure expression used by forum users in very heated, very controversial, and very inflammatory discussion threads. IBTL stands for "in before the lock", an exclamation that the user managed to reply before a forum moderator has shut the conversation down. |

They are both fast enough...for anyone who knows what he is doing and what he should not be doing on public roads; for the rest, nachob's post seem to reflect the majority feeling about these two cars.

I have ran/won at the pro solo summer nationals bonus challenge this year, which has a drag strip start. I put down 2.0 sixty foot times and pulled the boss 302 i was matched up against in the 2nd round.
The car is fast out of the hole but you need bigger better tires than stock not to kill yourself. From a slow roll of about 50mph i have roll raced with a 470whp gto and got pulled by about a car length or 2 to 110mph. So, the car is no slouch but imo it is a killer due to the fact that rear end will break loose easier than anything else i have driven over the years.

You need to get close to these cars' top speed on a very long straight in order to let a M3 cabrio catch the 1M; with this one there is not much of a competition due to weight difference. I think that even a DCT equipped E93 will be behind the 1M till more or less 110 mph (180 km/h) at the very least at which point the 1M finishes the third gear.
Last one and a half year we have been reading and sharing the test results of the 1M or comparison tests from all around the World automotive press and in general what I see is 1M has identical or better times than the manual E92 to 100 km/h (62 mph) while the DCT equipped M3 is around 0.1 sec. faster than the 1M. There is around 0.3-0.4 sec. difference between the E92 and E93 (if they have the same gear type) so you do the math. |

I remember I saw a video about 1M vs E92M3 (manual). 1M launched fast and took the lead at the beginning but then M3 caught up after 80mpg and "bye" to 1M.
So on the track, you may refer to Nurburring track time.. I guess they were both on the same tires and driver. |

Figures are figures. Driver's skills, fuel load, number of passengers and cargo on board, fuel quality, mechanical status of the car (mileage, way it's usually driven, wear and tear), etc. inevitably have an impact.
'Experienced temperature' and 'real temperature' are different concepts: drive each back to back and judge on the basis of your personal experience(s); possibly the 1M can be experienced as 'more explosive', even if objective figures would call it a close tie.

At Lincohn in a few weeks, we could see 1.9's. I am hoping to get in but it is filling up fast. I only ran the one pro solo.
