I had my detailer clay the car, then seal with Optimum Poli-Seal (http://www.autogeek.net/optimum-poli-seal.html), which I believe is a different product than Opti-coat (http://www.autogeek.net/optimum-opti-coat.html), although they seem to be made by the same manufacturer. I think you should be looking at only $150 or $200, although people in the detailing forums will tell you anybody working on your car for that cheap is probably ruining your finish...

Perhaps it is a high resulting from Einzett Cockpit Premium fumes...

Looking forward to hearing your feedback! I've gotta say, and I think 2003 tii may have had similar observations, but either I am now a bit numb to the improvement resulting from these inserts, or some of the improvement has been lost as everything settles in. Not sure which.

I'm sure it's probably a combination of the two.

My golly, your 135is looks amazing Rick!!! Your MG paint looks perfect and the reflections are amazing. And those wheels look great!

I couldn't help but noticing that your 135is badge is affixed to the vinyl area rather than on the aluminum trim like mine. I wonder if there is a specified location for it, or if BMW leaves it up to the tech who installed the 'is' bits at the port?

Looks fantastic.

My 135is badge is on the vinyl area as well - opposed to the trim.

Guessing it was at the tech's discretion - my #478 was built 3 after yours (and on the same day) and mine is on the vinyl - did yours come in through Baltimore or someplace else?

It seems the 'is" work instructions were a tad sketchy at the vehicle prep centers - some have have PPK stickers (in all different places), some don't have them at all.....and let's not forget the early builds where they forgot to secure the radiator hoses

Mine came through Savannah, sans any PPK placards. I guess variation is bound to occur with a port-installed option package like the "is" trim.

Just out of curiosity, did anyone receive a one year "gift" from BMW for your is? Mine turned a year old on 6/8 and I never received anything. I know that precious 1 owners received a sketch of the 1 prototype, and my parents had always received something such as a plaque or BMW key flash drive before their 1 year anniversary. Is BMW forgetting about us last of the 1 owners?

All I got was a bill for my monthly payment. I think they got the sketches at the 2 year anniversary, but not sure.

I was a "year one of the 1" owner and I received a book, a sketch, a BMW flash drive and a BMW pen. Nothing for my 2011 though.

I got something in the mail I was sure was going to be the drawing. Decent sized box, cool lid, etc. Inside was...a BMW "member rewards" card made out of thin shitty plastic. I was very disappointed.

was driving along in my X1 loaner (1M is in to get some little things/squeak/loose engine cover sorted under warranty and for a service) and for the first time ever....on the road....I spotted a 135is. It had a red interior.....is that Mineral Grey? I suppose although I'm not the greatest at deciphering the greyscale! I was going to wave to the owner at least however I was so into trying to get a good pic, that I never got a chance to.

I'm always on the lookout for another 1er. Hoping to see an IS on the road some day, but hasn't happened yet.

Hard to tell, but I think that is probably space gray, especially if it was cloudy. I have NEVER seen another 135is on the road and even a 135 is rare to see. I imagine they would have thought it was weird if an X1 driver waved, too. I had that occurrence a year after getting my car, I finally saw another 135 on the road next to me at a light in cincinnati, honked, waved, and the guy gave me a weird look...then I remembered, oh ya, I was in a rental Corolla and not in my car. Oops.

You should get the IND valencia orange painted engine cover, too. =P

IEDEI - you also need to be like that other guy in his thread about the dealer not doing his oil change and bitch all to hell that how dare they give you ONLY a crappy X1 as a loaner.

I will say one thing though - one day in a crappy hyundai sure makes you appreciate the hell out of our cars. But no more rental cars for me anytime soon.

48 hours to performance suspension,

Greg
