Sun roof exploded
So my sun roof exploded by itself on the highway. Didn't see any rocks or nothing come flying, other cars where far ahead. No bridges no nothing. Just a loud *bang* and small glass-bits came suddenly everywhere, in the necks and heads of me and the passenger. Really nice surprise! Luckily we weren't hurt.
I drove the car directly to the dealership (which was luckily only 5 min away, since it was raining, though I did close the inner cover quickly). Inspecting showed damage to the paint on the roof, trunk lid, rear spoiler and right side (next to the trunk lid). What a day. The dealer couldn't tell either, what caused the sun roof to break suddenly. Luckily, the insurance seem to be covering everything. Has this happened to anyone else? I suspect there was some kind of production-fault with the glass, un-normal tension or something.. I doubt anything hit it when driving |

I'd agree with you OP, I assume it's tempered glass and it sounds like either a defect in production, or perhaps you picked up a small nick somewhere and eventually the whole thing went.
