3rd tail light

Have they solved this problem yet?

Mine's been replaced twice, and I noticed it's come away again.

Lucky it's in for a service tomorrow.

Thank goodness for warranty - otherwise I'd be out a fortune on this car. (But I'd buy another on tomorrow if I was in the market)

You mean the strip one on the trunk boot lid? Mine was peeling off and Had it replaced too a couple of months back. They told me they haven't seen this before and That I may not be covered under warranty. Luckily they did cover it. But they did try to make it sound like they were doing me a favor.

There was a recall on the middle tail light a while back - it is usually a result of the screw been twisted in too tightly. Mine was cracked and it was fixed and it has never happened again.

DEFINITELY a warranty item. Tell your SA to shove it if they say otherwise. He/she should be able to pull up a service bulletin from BMWAUS on it.

Yep - that's the one.

Favor ..... ppfffftttt. Like me, I'm sure you didn't tick the box for the optional "Falling off tail light kit" when you ordered your car.

But then, I also didn't tick the option boxes for the failing HPFP (3), failing injectors, failing VANOS cam seals, failing tail lights (all 3) and failing coil packs. They were all thrown in at no cost to myself.

But as I said - I'd buy another one tomorrow - it's just THAT much fun

I replaced mine twice already.

First was due to overtightening of the screws mounting the LED light.

Second was the boot locking latching jammed casuing my boot hard to close.

Both occasions fully covered by factory warranty.

Seems like our released of 135, keeps having problems coming, wandering what is wrong?

To be fair to BMW, in my epxerience, if you have a major component failure, and there's no reason to suspect misuse, they stand behind their product VERY well. Depending on when the failure occurs, relative to the end of warranty, I've have them step up completely, I've had them share the cost with me, and I've had them cover parts while I covered labour.

So in a real world sense, I've always found them to be very helpful - albeit needing a push from me sometimes.

In that context, and given the history with the N54's, I'd expect BMW to step up and fix it, regardless of warranty, for a few years after expiration.

Naive - maybe!!!

Interesting my diff had been clicking for eighteen months. I had searched far and wide for what the issue was including dropping it off at my dealer for checking ("could not replicate issue") and sending video to my SA ("can't hear it").

Diagnose by pete at Advan in just a few minutes as diff splines.

Tool it back to trivett and all it needed was re lubing of CV joints and diff.

Sometimes you need to push them!

which reminds me.. the car goes out of warranty in 1 month so its time to get this fixed!

Mine is cracked in the middle going from the top to bottom. Not really noticable unless you look for it though

Mine was replaced twice, cracked in successive summer on +30C days. Apparently, they were installed too tight.

Passenger side tail light (LED strips) was faulty, but dealer replaced both under warranty this week.

That's about right. Even changing both tail lights took only about an hour.

Not even changing tail light is like a 15 min job - 3 screws each and unplug wire and you are golden

Nah this isn't for me, someone asked me about the dealer quoting them that much time to change it... just wanted to confirm.
Tail lights should be a walk in the park! Pending there's no issue with coding lol
