If I tap on the headliner above the back seat, it rattles and sounds rather cheap. But oh well. My last 3 sports cars were corvettes, two of them were C4's, so my brain pretty much tunes out all rattles now.

One of the very few advantages to being in your mid-60's is you don't hear many rattles! You do,however, need to crank up the sound.

Not to belittle the issue, but I've never had a rattle-free car. Is there such a thing? Or, let's say, is there such a thing for under, say $100,000?

I didn't have a single rattle in my GTO at 65k miles when I sold it, or the '97 240sx I drove 'till it had 168k on the clock. Other than those two, I think the rest of the 30ish vehicles I've owned have had rattles. |

How about this, just offering an observation, my 135 has three interior rattle/squeak issues, my 135 also contains many modern recyclable plastic bits, I really wasn't that surprised when the thing demonstrated consequences of modern manufacturing considerations, none-the-less, however, like many of you all have said, sadly, I was disappointed. Having said that, please, ponder this, my 71' Buick Skylark has no interior rattles/squeaks, plus, my 71' BMW 2002 had none as well. Perhaps they simply built em' better in those silly, halcyoned, golden olden days? Whatdya' think? BTW, has anyone seen my walker? Coulda' swore I left it here...:iono:

I've been in a couple of japanese cars that don't have any rattles.
Seems like it's par for the course though with any car that has a firm suspension.

I've lost track of all the rattles and noises after 13K+ miles. With any car with this many plastic pieces and panels, I expect rubbing. Sure, I've got a couple of older vehicles (115k, 248k) with no rattles, or at least fewer rattles, but I expect that in a car or truck with less panels to rattle. If any of the rattles get bad enough to be embarrassing then I'll take it in. Otherwise I'll just keep the radio on or stay a little higher in the rev range so I can't hear them!

Yes!
Passenger seat controls, center arm rest, and in the dash somewhere.
BUT, I drive on the worst roads in the free world - Boston. On a smooth freeway, the car is silent. Also, and needless to say, the amount of rattles is inversely correlated with the temperature. I'm the glad the car is a lease and I'm jelous of you guys with silent cars! |
