Help with a code
Last night as I was parking my car it showed the dreaded service engine soon light. Had it read this AM and showed a P050B code - cold start ignition timong performance is what the Autozone guy said. Have no idea what this means. It still runs fine and do not feel any thing wrong w it.
Help?(2012 128 N51) Thanks in advance! F |

Hopefully someone will chime in with some info on that code. Not sure if car parts store can read the BMW trouble code.
I recommend you get the Carly for BMW app & OBD dongle (wifi or BT depending on whether you're using apple or android). It reads & can clear the BMW codes. The other option is to have an Indy read the code.

That was the code that wasread by autozone. I don't know if an indy will read it any different. Nobody seems to have had this issue here before? I'm worried that I'm driving my car w the code and it will end up being a major issue.

I've been using Carly (aka BMWhat) code reader for years. It lets you read & clear trouble codes + can also do other things like code features or code a new battery.

Have you encountered a code like this? I can't go to a dealer to have it checked due to my work sched and am worried abt it being detrimental to the car's performance due to me driving it w the code on.

Do you think buying the BMWhat app and obd II adapter will be able to clear this code out? This code bugs me and comes in such bad timing as I will be driving soon for about 1000mi and don't want any issues on the way. Any help, guys? Last edited by $iriu$black; 06-22-2016 at 04:08 PM.. |

It will only take 5 min. for an Indy shop to hook it up and pull the code. Maybe call around and find one that will help you out?
The app lets you read and clear any error codes. If the error persists the code will come back until you fix it. I use an inexpensive wi-fi OBDii adapter with my iPhone 6, but I got mine a while back so not sure what the difference is between it and the official one. YMMV. ieGeek WiFi Wireless OBD-II Mini ELM327 OBD2 Auto Car Diagnostic Scanner Tool Adapter Read... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B3K2X4M...sms_api_aG6Axb... |
