Less Brake Dust

Has anyone else noticed that the more K's you have on your beast the less brake dust film there is on your wheels.

I am getting close to 10K km's and my wheels are easier 50% cleaner after hard driving.

Have never used the Armorall brake dust repellent spray either.

Actually, I would have to agree Joe. I've always used Amorall on mine, but it definitely is better. However my breaks do squeak like a bastard now.

My brakes do put out less dust after 10K miles. When I first picked up the car I needed to clean my wheels every few days. Now I can wait for a couple of weeks and see the same amount of dust on em.

It is normal for many performance brake pads which use different layers of material. Usually the first layer is the softest material which help the pad run-in better with the disc, lower the effective temperture, improving low temperture performance, and yeah more brake dust. Then the harder layer would maintain the durability and higher firction coeficient under higher tempurature which give you the real performance of the pad.

Not 100% sure if it is true for BMW brake pads but quite sure for some other after-market high performance brake pads like Endless or Project Miu would have similar charateristic. So far I feel the OEM pad on 135i is too soft which I have 5000 km on them now (Normal daily drive only)

Any expert here? Please correct me if I get anything wrong :P

I'm not sure if there is less break dust as the KM pile on.... I'm at 22,000 km now and while there may be less break dust this is more than offset by the fact that I wash my car at least half as regularly as I used to!
