Saw this post on another site:

"A few days back I have received an invitation to come for a fun day at our one and only re-opened drag strip. It is located around 30min. of highway driving from Dubai, in an emirate called Um-Al-Quwain. Drag racing has a longer history than any other motorsport here in the U.A.E., our record is high 6sec."

let me give u lil info about UAE since iam libyan i am knowledgble about the area,and i have been there few times..population is about 750 thousand people,and there is a couple million foreigns people.its really rich country,good goverment really high tech.they have the first e-goverment.so its pretty neat place to visit.they have the first 7 star hotel called(borj arab) which is mean arab tower.when first opened they bought 250 Rollas-royes phantom for the hotel guests(NOT CROWN VICTORY).if you go there u will see the neatest cars ever.if you drive for coupe weeks there.porsche and SL mercedes become really common car for you.so its not surprising me for what i saw.alot russain chicks there

Hey thanks for the pics! I was born in the UAE and lived there till i was 18. Brought back a ton of memories.

Definitely a rich country and very progressive.

Yeah, it sort of explains the high oil prices, but that has much to do with the embargo and the fact that we have most of our wells locked up. Lots of other perspectives on this out there.

Nevertheless, UAE is an awesome place to be these days, if you have a ton of cash.
