Had a similar experience. I got a combined quote for my 09 128i plus my truck, website gave pricing and I accepted. Then they called to deny the 1 saying it "isn't old enough." But they couldn't articulate what the age cutoff is.

The fact you were able to insure an 09 Mustang confirms it isn't purely an age thing.

Zero questions on my F-350 despite the fact Ford built it to do things specifically banned by a hagerty policy. No issue with my stated replacement value either. (About 2.5x what I put down for the 1, for reference)

I know this is a year old post, but I am so frustrated. I have a 2010, 135 high OS Geiken regeared limited slip. I put less than 100 miles on the car year. I put 13 miles on it last year didn’t drive it for a whole year a couple years ago, I’m the original owner it’s a 2010 and it has 49,000 miles on it. I’m a lifetime member of the BMW car club of America. I track it once or twice a year I have 520 hp and tons of aftermarket parts. It has an M3 E9X tire under chassis and subframe modifications to it that I whatever would fit , I had it installed. And two years ago and over this winter as well I made the entire interior completely modified to match that of what would be a brand new 2024 car I even put parking sensors around the car not bragging whatsoever. I’m just saying all this because I frigging check every single box of what the requirements are. my old insurance company probably wouldn’t give me more than $9,000 to a measly $11,000 and that’s if I had go with them for my car, and I could easily sell that thing for over 25 or 30 grand, maybe upwards of $40k, and that’s because I’ve been offered 30,32,and 35k for it, and one guy offered be 25 several times in a year. It is as clean and mint as it drove off the showroom floor, and I do mean MINT, and you can go in the doorjams and hit them with a white glove and get nothing, not anything.. any tiny thing that has ever even started to become worn out on it is always immediately replaced well-before it gets bad. There’s not a single bit of rust in or Aron d it, and NOT EVEN ONE SPEC OF OXIDATION under the hood either. It’s been in an environmentally controlled garage that never gets above 75° or below 60° for its entire life thus far also. I live in Massachusetts and the car was even special ordered for me from a dealership in Georgia back in late 2009. Haggerty just made me very angry and if they weren’t so great I wouldn’t want to ever use them in the future but boy I am pissed off at them right now.

Also, let me say, I’m sorry guys, I just had to vent via forum. 😑🥺☹️😩😩. This is soooooo frustrating. I wanted to ensure for 27,000 that’s reasonable, I even asked for the tools and the parts that aren’t installed and have $500 deductibles all completely reasonable stuff and they still wouldn’t take me because the cars for some weird reason on a list that they don’t ensure. I will quote someone else on here go try to buy one especially mine which has a black Sport headliner, it’s a manual and it’s an N 54 with 520 hp with MMP 1K turbos in it Again, exact mileage is 49400. 😢 WHYYYYY ARE THEY SO SNOOTY!! It’s a MINT late model bmw, not some 240k miles 2015 kia. Ugh. Not even sure what to do now. I’m screwed

As I said last year - you guys need to look into "Agreed Value" insurance.

It will NOT save you any money (unlike limited-use classic car insurance), but at least you can insure the car to what it's value actually is. I have my 128i convertible insured for $18K, and my RWD/Stickshift e91 insured for $25K. I did have to get an appraisal for the wagon to go that high, but as we all know, that's what they go for all day long on the specialist auction sites for a low miles one-owner car. I got the appraisal done by a local high-end Euro indie shop. He didn't even charge me since I'm a BMWCCA member - the owner is in the local chapter too.

I go through Grundy Worldwide as my agent for this. Having used both Hagerty and Grundy, I find Grundy is a LOT more flexible about usage. They are also great about taking coverage on and off my three cars that sit most of the year. If I am not in Maine, I only keep comprehensive on them and drop the collision and liability. Saves a small fortune. But not all states will let you do that, can't drop liability in Florida over the summer, unfortunately.

These aren't collector cars.
No matter how many parts you throw at it, it's still not worth shit. You can buy good running one's for under $15K, garbage for $5k.
If you barely drive the damn thing, why bother insuring it? 363 days of storage at full price does not equal 2 days of sorta fun.
If you're offered near the cost of what the car was new and didn't take it, you're an idiot.
If you're happy with one night a year of sex, FFS .....

agree, but there are probably some Insurance companies who will cover what you feel the car is worth. It will cost more $$$ though, so be prepared for that
