1:18 is a much better choice than 1:43, although it looks nice too, but only its hood opens.

Funny, I think the complete oppisite. 1:43 is a better size because the details aren't as fussy as 1:18. I tend to think, "how much does this look like the real car?" - I'm much more tolerant of the smaller size. Besides that, I just like it better, looks more chiseled.

In 1:18 everything works even the steering wheel

In 1:43 on hood opens, still great in quality

Check the "BMW online" link I provided on the first page, it's not all colors that's for sure.

They don't have black but their SG is way too dark compared with the real thing, so much so that it looks closer to metallic black.

As for the fellow who was asking why we bother buying these when we have the real thing, it's kind of a collection/souvenir thing. In 10 years when I'll be driving I-don't-know-yet-what, I'll still have the E90 replica somewhere. In 30 years it will be more like: "You know, I had a car like that once! That was in the era they were still burning gas and people actually had to drive them!" And in 50 years I'll probably be playing with it because I'll have lost too many brain cells along the way...

I got mine a couple of months ago, and they are VERY nice and extemely detailed. My only complaints are:

1. No moon roof.

2. Couldn't get the silver color with wood trim, which is the combo I have on my real 330i.

Here's a quick phone camera shot:
