I've just ordered a 320d Executive

Hi, I'm new to this forum.

I've just ordered a 320d Executive, Sparkling graphite, sunroof, rear PDC, black interior with walnut trim, standard 156 double spoke 16" wheels. I am told the car is arriving in the dealership next week, and I should be picking it up the following week.

Does anyone else on the forum have a 320d yet? I can't wait! will be interesting to see how much the engine frees up in the next few months compared to the demo I drove. I also can't wait to see the real fuel consumption figures. Will keep you posted.

Thanks, Vladinecko. In Australia the 320d has just been released! I'm not sure if it is the same as the Europe or USA models. I see on some discussions that some models don't have particulate filters, and may be older models.

This is the first time BMW 4 cylinder diesels are available here, and I think it will be very popular.

Georgepanzas, congratulations! When are you getting your car? What colour interior? I wanted brushed aluminium trim but the cars in stock had burr walnut, and I couldn't wait. Did you get a good deal? I paid $70000, I think it's OK.....I hope.

Dieselbmw, hopefully getting it this friday but the earliest 320d auto with sports pack + the options l have ordered comes with Burr Walnut. l have poplar wood trim on my X5 3.0i and thought aluminium would be a change. The dealer is happy to change the trim but l'm not sure what to do .
I think you got a good deal.
Ordering the sports pack/auto has added to the price l have paid but l like the look and drive of the car.
I am trading in E46 1999 that l have been very happy with but time for a change.
Reading other posts on this great site l think we have made a good choice with the colour and will enjoy the extra torque of the diessel.

I'll keep you informed.

George

Its good to hear that everyone who's replied have been happy with their 320d. Does anyone have any complaints or annoyance with their 320d?

Georgepanzas, I think the brushed aluminium suits the modern look of the E90 better, and contrasts nicely with the black interior. The dealer was willing to change the trim but said he could do a better deal without the trim change.

Hopefully picking up the car on tuesday, but still have not decided on trim. Also undecided on 17 inch rims that sports pack comes with , l think l prefer 162 or the 18" 194.
Guys need some help!!!

Diesel,
My major complaint is the lack of storage space in the car. The cubby is tiny and there is nowhere to put a map book. Otherwise... make sure you go for the Logic 7 Sound system. I didnt and I am regretting that

George,

Having lived in Aus for 6 years I would, IMHO, never put 18's on a car. They will not last the roads and leave you with a really harsh ride. Just an opinion - use it =. don't use it

Cheers

So long as you dont drive like a maniace (why would you in a bmw?), 18" is fine. For e90 i recon 18" is compulsory to balance up with the design of the car, anything less would look overly small.

It really depends on which area of Sydney you lived in...but I found that the ride of the E90 with M-sport suspension + RFTs is even more comfortable than the Z4 with non RFTs, both with 18" wheels.

Thanks for the help guys. I have decided on the 17" rims but I agree the balance does look better with the 18".
My biggest concern is the ride on my current and soon to be departed E46 is very smooth and l feel that E90 + SP will be too harsh with 18".
Pick it up this thursday, still time to change my mind.
Many Thanks

George

personally, i would go for the 18's... any smaller, and the car dwarfs them... just my thoughts

scunick, unfortunately mine does not have the logic 7. It's too expensive, also I did not want to wait too long, so I got what was available.

Georgepanzas, I agree the 17" is a good choice....which one did your get? The car magazines all complain about the ride on the 18" wheels, although I agree with Astra the 18" looks great. For me, I decided to save the money and stick with the standard 16" 156 wheels. If you find that the ride is still a problem, perhaps you should try changing to normal (not runflat) tyres and see if it is better. Have you picked up your car yet?

One question to 320d driver:

Any diesel/strange smell when you open the window/got out of the car?

Picked up the car last thursday. I love his car. Have not stopped driving it! Stuck with the 17" 194 rims and the Burr Walnut.
The ride is smoother than l thought and look forward to driving to work daily.
The bluetooth +ipod work great. Sport seats very comfortable.

Great service at Bmw Melbourne and a few great gifts for the wife.
Thanks for the help.
This car is a pleasure to drive.

Congratulations, George! I picked up my 320d today - love it! The only thing, the diesel noise is still noticeably more than the petrol, mostly during idle. My wife notices it more than me, but now that she mentioned it, I can't help noticing it myself.

Plenty of torque off the line. The bluetooth works great. I also got it at BMW Melbourne, also found the service great.

Congratulations dieselBM ,don't worry about the noise ,turn the radio up and think of the extra torque and fuel economy.
Safe driving and hope to see you at some BMW golf event.

Cheers
