msn.com: 2007 Model Year Preview (05/31/2006)

BMW

Having just introduced the next-generation 3-Series sedan last year, BMW is following up this fall with the all-new 3-Series Coupe. While the new 2-door shares many of the design cues of its 4-door sibling, it features a number of unique elements as well. The contours of the hood and the front fascia are designed to give the coupe a low and sporty look. A power dome on the hood indicates performance, and BMW has given this new 3-Series coupe power to back it up. For the first time the German automaker is matching its legendary inline 6-cylinder engine with twin turbochargers. Standard in the new 335i coupe is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline 6-cylinder engine producing 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. This is the most powerful engine BMW offers in a non-‘M’ car, and should get the new coupe to 60 mph in just 5.3 seconds, according to BMW. Also available will be the 328i, powered by a 230-horsepower non-turbo version of the same smooth engine. If more performance is needed, BMW will introduce three new ‘M’ models this year. Although the automaker is still referring to these as 2006 models, they are new to the U.S. market. The M Coupe and M Roadster, based on the Z4, should provide plenty of entertaining driving with their powerful 330-horsepower engines and balanced chassis. In addition, BMW is bringing back the M6 after a nearly 20-year hiatus. Changed quite a bit from that 1988 model, the new M6 boasts a 500-horsepower V10 engine teamed with a 7-speed Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG).

E92 delivery dates

The dealer bulletin for the States quoted "official retail launch" on September 1st.

The UK website says it "goes on sale" on September 23rd.

Does anyone know if these are the earliest and latest dates globally?

Isn't it a bit weird that the US has earlier launch and still (as far as I know) no official prices?

My info is, it will be presented on September 23rd at the dealers in Germany. That means, first possible delivery to customers on Monday, September 25.

Sparkling graphite I saw on a 330i... stunning in natural light
Your dealer is speaking the truth about dark green being hard to sell. My wife traded in her 330 Ci (dk.green w/beige leather) about four years ago; it took about 5-6 months for the dealer to re-sell it because of the colour combo, mainly the dark green.

It has been . I believe it gets around some technical requirement to import the vehicles as street legal or something like that. The current opinion is that they should be easily removable.

Yes, just like on the later e46's... replaceable with either clear or body-colored "reflectors."

TYPE 230 Wheels?? Not Able To Order-Anyone want Black '05 330ci lease/buy?

Hello everyone.....please help...I am the first on the list in central Florida for the new coupe. I completely forgot 11 months ago when I traded my '02 330ci for my current '05 330ci that I asked to be put on the list for the new coupe. I chose all the specs last week but have a problem....I read everywhere that people are ordering their car with the Type 230 19" wheels...my dealer tells me that there is no place in the computer build system for that wheel. Has anyone actually ordered their car with confirmation of the Type 230 wheel....I ordered Jet Black 335i Coupe, Coral Red Leather, Aluminum Trim, Sport Pckg, Auto w/ paddles, Navigation...they even showed me and its true...I saw no place for those wheels....post or e-mail me at geminiorl@yahoo.com. P.S. anyone interested in Mint '05 330ci-Jet Black, Natural Brown Leather Interior, 6 Speed manual, Xenon, ipod connection, Upgraded BMW 3 piece wheel pckg, rear spoiler, 15K Purchase or Lease Assumption w/ Decent Credit at $513/Month

The official US ordering guides (linked from the first post) makes no mention of 230's available in the US. I have not read anyone who was able to order 230's in the US. I believe the 230 wheels will initially only be available for other countries. It is common practice for BMW to have limited options for the US market compared to other markets. This is also the case with the Jade Grey interior color not being available to US e92 buyers at this time. Things may change in the future but the US ordering guides and all US press releases make no mention of Jade Grey or 230 wheels. Someone please correct me if I am wrong as I would like to have 230 wheels and possibly jade grey interior.

Well, you'll just have to move north of the 49th parallel where you can order both Jade Grey and 230 wheels. The 230 option sure makes a lot of sense for 335i buyers in Canada, where roads are in worse shape than in the USA.

I've always heard that having larger rims & less tire makes wheel damage more likely? If this is at all true then wouldn't you want smaller rims & more tire (as in a 17" rim) for rough roads?

Interesting... now what was all this crying forum members made about "wrongly" suggesting that a 335i would likely not be had for less than $700/mo? Hmm, perhaps their speculating was wrong...

Dispell Delivery Date Myths

I wanted to let everyone know the real release date of these 335i's........My car is a July production vehicle with realistic delivery to dealer (East Coast is quick from the port) around the 3rd week of August. My car should be switching status anyday now making any changes impossible hence why I was trying to find out about the '230' wheels......I had read a few posts where people said the ordered their car with those wheels but I guess I was mistaken........I also belive the price with options I chose will be right at $47,000......any higher I would rather have a stripped M3.......

Because USA is a special, but very restricted market, with rules dictated by BMWNA.
Be lucky to live in Europe, you can hopefully get any option like leather lemon and antracite headlines(E90),
or type 230 rims and no restriction on exterior, interior, trim and leather colours(E92).
But we have to pay the price for this possibility.
In Europe you can order the E92 330i with the DI2 engine opposed to the Valvetronic engine in the E92 328i for the USA

True it sucks that we don't have lemon, it really, really, really sucks.

But we get a much better deal in terms of pricing / standard options than the Europe counterparts. Furthermore, BMW is preceived as a luxury brand in the states, where in Europe its an "everyday" brand like Toyota.

In Europe, BMW is considered as a "premium automobile builder" like Audi, Mercedes-Benz.
I think these brands are also luxury brands in the USA.
Sure you have better terms of pricing, but you can't get what you want.
I'll pay, if I can get what I want, without any restriction/regulation by an importer!
