Official top speed is 256mph (412km/h), which beat the Veyron by 2mph. Bugattti then retuned and managed to reclaim the top speed record on a racetrack under perfect conditions. The SSC set its record on a two lane county road and only had a two mile stretch to work with from stop to stop.
Tuatara is expected to be 10 mph faster, should easily reclaim the record. Tuatara production will start as soon as the factory is finished . . . 3 miles from my house! I wouldn't (and couldn't) own the car, but it isn't every day that you get to hang around with a million dollar machine. The fit and finish were very impressive for a car built by hand in a non-descript shop in the guy's backyard. The car is also 100% US sourced, including parts, material and labor. |
