Dont went a tboned car trust me. Frame is bent. Ever seen a car after they fixed damage like this? The car looks twisted. And you can see the front wheels ahead of the back wheels from being bent. Crabbing. But im glad your ok.

Damn man this is hard to look at. Not only do i feel sorry for a fellow 1'er brother but that car looks just like mine.
My vote is totaled. I hope its totaled so you get a new car. I sure as hell wouldnt want my car back after all that damage. What will you get if you get reimbursed your cars value? Another 1'er?

The key thing is 57k miles so it's probably going to be totaled. Since this could put you out a lot of money and since I assume the other driver got a ticket, I would lawyer-up and be ready to wait out a settlement.

When I first glanced at the pic. I thought sideswipe no problem it can be fixed but when I read that you were “T boned” I think the car taking a direct hit in the side, there is most likely unseen damage to the car that would be hard to fix, I call it totaled.

Totaled, probably frame damage.
The other thing that sticks out is the front strut turned in like that which means that it is bent or just ripped out. Either way the motor needs to be pulled to cut out the side apron and replace the whole thing. That right there, just one side, is $10K in damage/labor. Ask me how I know....

It actually looks like the door took the brunt of the force. But new door and panels painted probably around 12k. Air Bags $3000 each + programming and check computer system for damage, hard impacts to suspension bits often run a charge through the car frying computer systems and destroying steering racks (another 10k?)
So I would probably put my money on totalled.

I say totaled since it has 57k miles on it and repairs will be more than half of the value.

Glad you're OK!
Sad to say, but I think it's totaled: 57,000 miles, looks like potential pillar damage, right front wheel angle might indicate yet more damage. Gotta love how well it protected your from a 40 mph t-bone crash...

It's especially interesting that the inside of the passenger door looks pristine. The car absorbed all the damage without compromising the passenger compartment. Even if someone had been riding there, they'd have been fine. I'm quite impressed.

Glad ur ok..
Totaled ... rear 1/4, door, fender, complete r/f suspension, wheel, possible tire, strut tower tweaked, a pillar, b pillar, rocker, floor (under carpet) air bags, control units for air bag, and thats what i can see from the pictures.. ins total rule is usually 70% of value.. KBB say that car in excellent condition is 21,400 so 70% of that.. you can see the difference... Good Luck !!

They will make the repair. I had a 1 weeks old 2007 Jeep SRT that was hit but a 16 year old as I was stopped in the left tuen lane, and she turned right and plpwed into me at about 35 MPH. Need 2 new doors, a lot of welding, frame, trim, alignment, and the entire left side of the behicle repainted. They did a nice job, but it started to rattle so I dumped it. Repair.

That sucks, hopefully it is totaled.
Find the yard and go around knocking out lights to ensure it haha

i guess it all depends on the estimate. My friend got into an accident with his STi and damaged the front and rear bumpers, f+r fenders, and scratched up the two doors on the same side, and scratched up the wheels, and the estimate was about $9600 with no "frame" damage. I say totaled, especially given the cost of BMW parts.
