So they fixed my squeaky pedals but (surprise surprise) they can't reproduce the waste gate noise. I'm on my way over there to take a drive with the tech. I'll report back...

Don't know if the owner is here but goes to show how capable these cars are in the hands of a good driver. Met a 135i owner, n54 bone stock with exception of track pads and Direzzas (staggered) and we are putting down same lap times of 1:28 at Summit Point. My car is rated at 255hp but I'm a bit lighter and have suspension with wider rubbers.

Bonus shot:

So, turns out its the exhaust flap, as you don't really get waste gate rattle at such low RPMs.

Today is beast friday, because I picked up the beast from the doctor today.

Ok "IS" boys... it official, my IS has gone Donkey Kong. Dinan Stage 3: 373 horsepower & 408 lb-ft of torque and let me tell you something... it is everything I had hoped for. Sweet, smooth, elegant, wicked fast and fun fun fun. The 91 extra lbs of torque is unbelievable. In your seat every time.

All of our intoxicating burbly, grumbly exhaust notes that we so love on our 135is's BMW PE are still there. It even grumbles and pops snappier and harder. The car runs cooler, even in NYC rush hour traffic. Throttle response is extremely quick, perhaps with the cooler charged air from the FMIC that is like twice the size of the OEM. My fun gear use to be 3rd & 4th but is now also 5th and 6th. The RPM's simply spool up to red line way fast in any gear. You really have to be careful. Thank the BMW Gods I have a DCT, I probably would have broke something if I didn't. I also had the rubber bushings in the front thrust arms replaced with precision delrin ball joints that comes with machined aluminum housing and I must say, all that suspension shimmy and slop are gone.

I've only had 2 hours seat time but will give you a more detailed report when I drive more. I was seriously driving back to work today with a smile from ear to ear.

I say JUST DO IT! You will not regret it. No issues, no funny codes, no blowing up this or that. Just start and go. Truly... IMO, performance without sacrifice.

It also goes to show that power isn't everything. For me, adding power would be the last thing I'd do. I know my driving skills are horrendous to have 100% control and take advantage of this car's capabilities 100%. It's always fun listening to my friends' stories wondering why a mere Miata passed their Mustangs, Bimmers, etc. With that said, the best mod = driver mod...I'm planning to do that once I find the time.

@Chunner if you don't mind me asking, what did it cost for you to go stage 3? (Software and additional hardware, oil cooler and intercooler, not strut bar and other goodies) I'm bringing my car in for its first full service in the next week and they are a dinan dealer, I want to try to establish a baseline price.

I chose an indy shop vs a BMW dealer. I felt a real connection with Dave Bogart during my research. He is top notch!

Prices for parts are listed on the Dinan website: http://dinancars.com/
The labor rate I paid was $120 per hour.
The installation time is listed under the Spec tab for each product.

DO IT!

Congratulations! You went all-in on this one and I'm happy (and relieved) that you are extremely satisfied with the result! 53 additional horsepower and 91 lbs of additional torque delivered by properly engineered modifications is certainly an enviable performance upgrade! Can't wait to hear more!

I took my car to Enthusiast Auto this week to replace the front bumper (by the way, they did a GREAT job!). They are about 3 minutes from my office and happen to be the #2 volume Dinan dealer in the country. I've talked to them a few times about the Stage 2 upgrade since ordering my 135is last June... I sure wish they could flash my car and let me "try before I buy". Feeling that extra push back into the seat would probably seal the deal...

I had MWW install the dinan stuff on my mini way back when. Good shop - very BMW dealer-esque, especially in rate!

Sounds like the S3 is just awesome in every way. Congrats, Chunner.

Does anyone know the color of the thread BMW used for our seats?

It'd be interesting to see someone do something like this for the door inserts, door armrests, headrest, etc.: http://nsxprime.com/forum/showthread.php?t=145770

Very cool how it provides all of the information right on the video. Is that just part of the GoPro software?

GoPro did recording only. iPhone application called Harry's Lap Timer serves as data acquisition. I also have a device that plugs into the OBD port and speaks to my phone for information like gear, rpm, throttle, etc.

I did catch him on that last lap but we were evenly paced all weekend.
