Stage 3+ Spec Clutch

Put the stage 3+ spec clutch in this weekend with the DMFW. Engages nicely through the gears but very quick end point for 1st gear clutch engagement. I have had to alter my 1st gear engagement driving. I wanted something I can live with for the next 10-20 years without dropping the trany again. It was a PITA. Would recommend stage 2 or 2+ if not running to much torque. Stage 3+ is probably overkill and slightly affects DD.

So just want to give an update. The clutch is Kevlar so it takes time to wear in. Longer then other clutch replacements I have done. I still believe I did a little to much overkill here and unless your going single turbo (Im not) stick to stage 2 or stage 2+. FWIW the 1st gear engagement has gotten very manageable and I suspect will be inconsequential in time as further break in continues. For those who remain stock tune without mods stick with the standard clutch, its a gem.

I had a similar clutch in my 1m and gone to a 550i clutch running 350rwk on dyno danamics dyno
or around 400rwk dyno jet and its holding perfectly fine and drives very nicely with no slip

If this clutch ever lets go I'll go with the new m4 factory twin plate and the m4 dmfw.

OE or stage 1 is good enough for full bolt-ons. 335i and 1M alike. Never any issues with the OEM clutch.

My OEM clutch started slipping when I went from stage 1 to 1+ on cobb OTS map. By stage 2+ the clutch stood no chance. Changed out the DMFW as well as a precautionary. Although very minor, some hot spots where evident.

I have the Stage 3+ 1st gear engagement is fine. Do you perhaps think its an install error ?

Did the installer intall the new clutch in the same exact position as the factory clutch ? There is a high side and low side. The factory is set on the high side.

Did you use the original factory pin that presses the flywheel ? If not this will results in the flywheel not being pressed enough and being loose. Engagements will have grunts which will eventually destroy your TB and PB

I did use the original factory pin although I felt the aftermarket worked better. As the clutch is breaking in it has had much better 1st gear engagement. Still not smooth like stock but that might never occur. The clutch has about 300 miles on it. So still very early. What is TB and PB.
