injector tick maybe? valve train noise? could be something as little as being a little low on oil. If you're worried i'd go to the dealer if its under warranty

Better take it to your dealer so THEY can figure it out.

Sounds a little bit like a lifter and a little bit of belt squeal/slippage. ?

That just sounds like the N52 Lifter tick. Air gets into the valvetrain and you get that noise.

Run the engine above 3000 rpm for a bit to get the oil pressure high enough to drive off the air. then it will go away untill you park the car for a while and the oil drains back out. If you regularly shift early to save gas, you never make enough oil pressure under normal driving.

Concider it your car telling you you arn't driving it hard enough.

Sounds like normal N52 lifter tick. The first procedure is to replace all of the exhaust lifters. That will usually fix the problem permanently. If the tick comes back then they will replace the cylinder head.

Our 328xi had the lifters replaced a few months ago and the tick has not returned.

There is lots of discussion on the issue here.

What is this ticker? I normally drive the car at lower rpm as i am use to that.. I will shift anywhere between 1,5 to 3. I honestly am pissed if its cylinder heads and all. If this will be the case BMW really has issues and should maybe do additional testing prior to releasing the cars for production. My car went to the garage so many times that i honestly dont count anymore. Moreover, i believe that BMW really degraded quality over time as i use to have an older 3 series and you could definetly see the quality inside and outside.

I see people with problems with their hfpf and it really makes me wonder. They spend so much money on making bigger engines however they neglect standard quality. My old 328 had almost 300 000kms and is still running well as i gave it to my bro. I have only 30 000 kms on this and went at least 7 to 9 times at the dealer. Please dont get me wrong i really enjoy and love driving bmws but this is really getting me pissed. I was just expectng the same quality of car...
