Talking Finally posting my new 135

I have been doing a lot of research on this forum for quite a while now and have really just been plucking information without posting. I met HondaGoneRouge at the car wash the other day and he talked me into it, (shortly after we spoke I decided that it would be a good idea to open my hood with the wipers in the up position... so you know what happens then). These pics are pre-windscreen-smash from the first trip to the car wash. I have an appointment tomorrow to get the windscreen replaced then on to the growing mod list that I have going; ironicly the first item of business is window tint... go figure. Anyways, without further ado, here she is:

Reseting ECU

I am about to hit my 1200 mile mark tomorrow... picked the car on Jul 23rd with 3mi... I really can't stop driving this beauty! Anyways, I heard a rumor that if you pull the neg battery terminal, it will reset your ECU (except codes). I was just wondering because I know the ECU is very adaptive, and by now it probably thinks that I drive like a grandma. I would like to teach her the real me on the autobahn this weekend.

Does this rumor hold any truth to it? If not any pointers on getting my ECU up to my standard?

Yeah, I had originally chosen the Savannah Beige, which is pretty awesome as well but once I saw the Jet Black on Coral I had to call and change my order. My wife says it looks like a grandma leather, w/e. I personally think it's much more sporty. Although, after seeing the Terracotta, I sorta regret not getting it; it just looked too orange in the pictures, but in person it is closer to the 335i's Saddle Brown with a nice dark color to it.

Here's the aftermath...

For those of you that are new to the 135 world, or if your really like saying "OOOOOoooooo"... Here's what happens when you leave your wipers up and open the hood. Don't worry my insurance covered it, but if not, it would have cost me 1200 euro to replace instead of $300. Nonetheless, I'm still an idiot!

Just look at it and for me!!

Hey man! I felt so bad the other day. And I am sooooo jealous of your color combo. The anthracite looks completely badass. Makes me want to order a new one lol.

So jealous of your nice clean number plates in Europe. Seems here in the US we all have to have corny slogans, pictures of bluebonnets or in case of Texas, cowboys, oil derricks and the space shuttle.

I also remember back in the 70's my mother was able to get a stick on front plate for her Oper GT when we lived in Munich.

Great car. I have the coral red interior as well, soon to sport black carbon fabric on the trim.

Dude, you can get an Anthracite kit from United BMW check it out. http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=6218

Also, I noticed your new pics feature a nice front lip, is that new or did I just not see it last time.

But man you're car looks clean, throw some 10%-15% tint on your windows and 30% on your tail lights and that color combo will be . BTW, when are you gonna do your springs? I'm thinking about ordering mine, but I want the sway bars too so I might wait until the exterior is done before I go messin' with warranty covered stuff.

Oh yeah, do you know that guy with the black Mustang GT with the custom hood? He tried to keep up with me on the A60 the other day and I smoked him (below 4500 rpms because of break in period) then when we got to 100 I had to let him go. MAN I LOVE THIS CAR!!!

Yeah, I want to order the anthracite but it seems like I'll pay 3x what it would have cost new But maybe one day when I'm really really bored I can do it myself. And yeah, the lip is new as of last friday And I won't be doing springs here since I'm shipping the car on Monday.

Nope, don't know that 'stang but . Why doesn't anyone try to race me???

I'm gonna miss the A60.

Pulling the battery wont do it. To reset the transmission's adaptive learning you can do 1 of 2 ways.

1. Order the Bavarian Technic cable and reset via one of its functions.

2. The other which I read about and dont know whether it works for the 1 series is to put key fob in but dont press anything. Now press accelerator pedal all the way down and hold for 25 seconds. You are supposed to hear some electrical/mechanical whirring/noises.

Why bother with the reset?

I haven't noticed any slowness or hesitation with the engine/transmission since I came out of my breakin. The more I get used to the car and the more I drive, the better things seem to be settling in. I don't think I'd bother with the reset. I'm currently just shy of 3000 miles on the odometer. Delivery date was 6/27, 6 miles on the odometer.

YUP, PUT THE KEY IN AND PRESS ON ONCE, I belive. Then hold the accelerator pedal down for 15 seconds, you should hear some "clicking" from your gearbox / ecu. I did this in my e90

I see that you're from Antwerp. The reason that I have the amber reflectors on the side of my headlights is because it is US spec. Euro spec cars don't have it, their entire headlight is clear/silver.

Just bust those out like you did the windshield, and you won't have to worry about them. JK...Looking good.
