Week 14 Support Group

Ok, I thought I'd start a thread of those who are in Week 14 production like me.
I was updated this morning to status 150 (in production) and have a completion date of April 2! I estimate that if the car ships out mid-April then I will be behind the wheel by the 3rd week of May. That's probably about at least a week behind left coasters because my 1 will have to get on another boat to this side of the world, the rock called Oahu.
I'm so glad to be in production, I made 3 color changes since I placed my order on March 3-> SB to AW to SGM back to AW. My CA was all cool about it but I will reserve shoutouts after delivery.
Right now will just continue to keep track.
C'mon Week 14ers, post your status & get together! :drinking:

I'm in! My car is supposed to be completed April 1.

I'm supposed to do the PCD, but don't have a schedule for it yet.

Awesome, now I don't feel so lonely waiting.

I would think that a production number should be available, at the very least, when the dealer can give you a general timeframe for delivery, ED or not.

As an aside, I've been wavering between SGM and AW, finally decided on AW, and the changes were made one day before the car went into production. I thought I wouldn't be able to because I've been 112 for over a week. *Whew*

That gives me hope! I added the iDrive option at the last minute, but the more I think about it, the less I want it. I think I'll call my CA tomorrow and ditch the navigation.

i added a few things a week after i ordered the car and there wasnt a problem. didnt change a thing about the production date. My CA tells me that the reason for this is because they are not building a steady stream of these. they are building them some weeks and not others. this is all a marketing ploy to give this car more hype. they know what they are doing. this website is representative of their marketing strategy coming to fruition. the car however deserves all the hype!

you would think that with a plant with a capacity of around 700 cars per day, plus the potential to double output capacity, bmw would have just lined em up for production and every single one of us wouldn't have to wait for too long. i am sure a number of factors are also involved in scheduling the production, perhaps in-line retooling of the plant to accommodate different configurations, the adjustment of projected number of cars to be made in response to market factors, etc.

but going back to the ease of making changes, i'm so glad that i can no longer do it lol. i have 3 order revision sheets since my march 3 order. in addition to color changes, i have added a few things such as CA and assist which I never intended to order in the first place, thanks to reading this forum. :iono: if i had an extra week i would have placed in something i totally don't need like parking distance control.

the vigil begins! hope the wait won't drive me mad. :eyebulge:

it depends on your dealer allocation, among other factors. i went in march 3rd, my dealer had one slot for april production (week 14 build, meaning the 14th week of the year which is actually the week beginning march 30).

some have ordered since november 2007 and scheduled for production in february. i was told 2 days ago that if i placed my order that day, my car would get in by end of july to early august. so it totally depends on the dynamics of the dealer allocation system at your local BMW and your own delivery needs (ED for example can be scheduled further down the road than regular delivery).

west coasters - scheduled ships to port hueneme

did a bit of research and these are the possible ships found in the wallenius website where your vehicles could be in (first date is departure, second is arrival):

Don Juan: 03/31/08 - 04/23/08
Hojin: 04/03/08 - 04/26/08
Carmen: 04/04/08 - 04/27/08
Grus: 04/11/08 - 05/09/08
Isolde: 04/11/08 - 05/05/08
Turandot: 04/25/08 - 05/18/08
Manon: 05/02/08 - 05/26/08

note that these are ships scheduled on the wallenius website from bremerhaven to port hueneme, ca and therefore non-inclusive.

My CA had originally told me that production would begin April 15th based on his allocation list. I called the 800 number for the first time today just to see what that was all about. I found out that my car is in production now and will be complete on April 3rd!!!!!

I think I actually giggled.

I have no idea where my order falls as far as dealer allocation. I'm gonna try to find out on Monday or Tuesday. Hopefully they can fit me in to April's allocation lol.

ROFLMAO - no actually I ordered on the 21st (IIRC) - but I got an allocation that had been 'returned', buyer's remorse. Hey but I'm stuck here in flyover country - if it doesn't have a bowtie on the grille it can't be any good - so BMW orders are ripe for the picking. ; -)
