clicking sound

Hi all,

I hear this annoying clicking noise at low speeds and only recently theres a faint clicking sound as im driving and turning the wheel at speeds up to 60kmh

was told it might have something to do with the wheels require torquing, but this was done and didnt remedy the issue.

im out of warranty and about to take into BMW to repair with massive concerns especially if its wheel bearings or CV joints.

anyone experience this and how was it fixeD?

thanks in advance!

I took my wheels off to inspect it myself, put them back on and the sound was gone.

not to state the obvious - but have check to see if you have anything stuck in your tires?

I had a thumbtack in one of mine and it took me while to find.

A good way to check CV joint is to slowly go around in a circle, full lock one way and then full lock the other. If the clicking is there and sounds worse, then afraid CV joint but generally if the CV boot isn't split or any grease hasn't came out (there would be visible signs if looked underneath), the CV joints should last for at least +10 years (+120,000km).

unfortunately 'clicking sound' could be any number of things... sway bar/sway bar bushings is what springs to mind first... however, basically ANYTHING down there can 'click' when broken lol

I have a thread called "Odd Sound". Mine went away when the wheels were removed and retorqued and it did go away for a while.

One guy had his whole front suspension removed by BMW and no change.

Mine still does it and the hotter it is and the faster I go the louder it is! I'm resigned to leave it until something breaks even though the noise is unpleasant.

When I had my s2k I had a clicking sound and it was a wheel bearing and the bolt had become loose due to not being tightened enough from factory. Maybe check that?

I had/have the same issue. Had it looked at by BMW today during my service, and their conclusion was that since I fitted larger tyres on the front (225), it is rubbing on the steering arm when I turn..... And only when I turn left.... And only on the front right??

Tyres hitting a control arm? LOL

sounds like a copout, i'd get a second opinion, or get someone to stick their head down there or stick a camera under so you can see whats going on

225 is normal even on fully factory tyres with no rubbing anywhere (235 here, others fit 245)

I have the same clicking sound and sent mine in to BMW but they could not fault the cause of the noise.

Damn annoying with that clicking noise, makes my car sounds cheap.

Want to get this solve under warranty, anyone can chime in for the actual cause of the noise?

Clicking and ticking sounds are what BMW's do best. Mine clicks and ticks all over the place.

Yep - it's embarressing. Especially in stealth mode you can hear me a mile away. Lol skids!

I got my car cleaned today and its gone. FN annoying. I'm sure she'll be back! Taking my car into service will get them to diagnose all possible causes and report back definitively. Cheers all
