Started to get parts in. Installed these H&R Super Sport springs yesterday. The ride is stiffer which is what I'm used to with the Jetta. Some body parts coming in this week but I'm thinking I'll wait until everything comes in and then vinyl wrap it all

I know the whole car needs a good detail. Just been enjoying driving it so much. New wheels are in its near future as well

Ooooooh yeah I've been building this car in my head for a couple years. So it's just a matter of buying parts now haha waiting for a couple more body pieces to come in before I start wrapping it

Clay barring the car this saturday and getting it all ready to start the wrap sunday. I've got all my disassembly diy videos saved and ready to take a bunch apart. My goal is to get the whole car minus the bumpers wrapped on sunday.

Can you elaborate on the fitment of the M4 spoiler? I have an E88 as well, and was worried any aftermarket spoilers wouldn't fit.

From the top, the spoiler sits snug against the trunk entirely. I've seen some mention that the sides had trouble lifting but with heat and good 3M tape, that shouldn't be an issue. If you're looking at it from underneath, you will notice a small gap from the back of the trunk to the spoiler. Not really a big deal to me as it's not visible and won't affect anything with good tape

Outside of a roll cage, there doesn't seem to be much missing? I've seen a couple guys running trimmed E82 trunks on the E88. Spoilers work with a little massaging and 3M tape.

The joy of blasting around with the top down far outweighs the benefits of the coupe for me at least

Never been much of a vert guy myself (never owned one) but I gotta say it sounds like fun.

I came from a couple s2000's before my Jetta so it was something I missed in the 6 years of having that. I can't wait to really hear the exhaust on the 1 with the top down.

Welcome to the fast side of things. I bet the 135i makes the Jetta feel slow. Ha! I'm curious to see how your build comes out this round. Low vs. performance?

Updates

So, thought I'd just use this as my "build" thread. Just a place to post updates on what's been done to the 1 so far. I've been blacking out the chrome line trim and the interior "wood", had bumper and spoiler painted/installed, front lip installed and then destroyed in 20 minutes, and just had tires mounted on the VMR

Sucks about that lip. It just sticks out way too far. I break that in 10 seconds the second I drive out of my driveway. Still looks good without it.

I'm chalking it up to my mounting it possibly incorrectly. We'll see, there's another on its way. I guess if I bust that one I'll know lol
