Roads are terrible, no where you want to change a flat. Summer 100+ temps, road construction going everywhere in town, often no shoulder or breakdown lane

Remove them, and you're left with more slop than would otherwise be present had the car been designed with non-runflats. Some people can't stand the handling afterwards. Some, presumably like yourself, are fine with it. I think it's fair to give people a warning about one of the negative effects of moving off of the runflats.

How many of them were pluggable on the side of the road?
I've had 2 in 4 years. Both I took 10 minutes throwing a plug in. 20 minutes of work in 4 years, well worth not having to deal with a horrible ride day in and day out. Personal preference, and sure, you always risk needing a tow in the event of a blowout far enough from home that a spare can't be delivered.
