Running JB4 on Ubuntu
I dont know if this belongs here or not but if it doesnt move it.
I use Ubuntu 13.04 on my laptop and i am trying to run the JB4 through wine and it just wont work. I just wanna know if anyone has done it and how they did it. |

Yeah I think the JB4 program that you need to run is windows-only. Even macs have to run it on windows mode or whatever.

or even installing a VM windows SHOULD work as long as it doesn't have connectivity issues (can be a huge PITA) but would be a really easy thing to try just in case?

I was going to say Wine as well. Not really sure, I haven't touched Ubuntu in over 4 years.

I also use linux. I wouldn't bother with Wine, I use virtualbox for all sorts of development and it always works. Of course, you will need a copy of windo$e also.

ill try that. Ive used wine for a lot of things but for sume reason when i try to open the usb drivers and set up with windows program loader it doesnt do anything

To use the USB capabilities from a XP VM in Ubuntu, I use Virtual Box from Oracle. Don't forget to install the expansion pack to get USB functionalities. I used that setup to use an old diapo scanner. It's a great way to keep using old devices or windows only hardware without having to dual boot.
