I have this tune. Smooth like butter.

N54 stats: 370 hp 380 ft.lbs TQ.

I had the PPK (tune only) and that was 320 hp 317 ft.lbs. TQ.

How do you apply the tune? Do you have to mail in the ECU? Also, the OP is looking for N55 tuning solutions.

They have a N55 tune on the website. It is a flash tune. You don't need to send your ECU.
It is done like Dinan does it. There is an installer near me that I used. You also get 1 free tune for future mods. I may add the BMW PE and I will get a reflash for that for free..

My personal experience with the AP3 on 2011 N55 135 is that it does require a Protune from an experienced tuning engineer type of person. I have not found the off-the-shelf maps very useful for my purpose (track, road course). And even with a good Protuner, you need to be clear about your objectives, because straightline 1/4 mile runs is a very different profile than sustained use on 2+ mile road circuits.

I plan on getting a tune next year. I am new to all of this so I hope none of questions sound stupid.

Seems like the jb4 is direct plug in and can be removed without contaminating the existing computer.

I have read that it is still traceable, does it change the logging on the oem computer?

I have a 2013 135i CPO and only have 44k miles on it. I am curious when I will safely be able to added a tune without ruining the warranty.

The dinan stage two is very expense, over 1300$ and it reflashes the existing computer. What if you wanted to go back to stock?

If your worried about warranty then get a Dinan tune. Get stage 1 if you can't afford the other tune yet. You will get future credit from Dinan when you upgrade. I believe you pay the difference. Then you won't have to worry about flashing back to stock. There really is no reason to.

I don't believe there is a Dinan Stage 1 tune for the N55 135i. At least I didn't see one on their website. Just Stage 2 and Stage 3. Stage 2 can be flashed to an other wise stock car and Stage 3 requires an upgraded oil cooler and intercooler (Dinan recommends their oil cooler and intercooler but it doesn't have to be theirs). Both tunes mention adding the Dinan exhaust but it's really not necessary imo.

That could be Esteban. I was just going on memory. My point was to get the cheapest tune from Dinan if warranty is an issue. Dinan is pricey tho...
The "Dinan"oil cooler is suggested but if your car has an oil cooler which all 135i's have you can still use it. I would want to upgrade the oil cooler tho to Dinan's at some point.

That is probably the reason I got the tune I currently have. It's less hp but cheaper than Dinan but it's still a noticeable change you really feel in acceleration... too much fun.... I'm a 1Addict. ..

Thanks!
There's no information on the whole interwebs about any of this so I don't know.

Did you go with the dinan stage 1 with oil cooler? What did that cost?

Anybody know about the ESS E-Tronic Tuner? Looks like you just plug it all in it loads.

http://esstuning.com/n55-e-series-35...-tronic-tuner/

Just purchased a 2013 SGM 135i DCT. Shipping it here to Guam from Oakland. Don't want to pull the ECU if I don't have to. Thought this looked like a good option. Plug and play is fine for me.

Don't buy that thing. Honestly I would just enjoy the car in stock form for awhile. Maybe get someone to remotely flash the PPK tune for you. It's a blast to drive.

Mhd will be offered for n55 really soon and is currently in beta testing.
Whoever thinks dinan is a good flash has rocks in there head.
Mhd for n54 and n55 is the current best option
