Have people made comments about your 1 while you're out and about?
Okay, so...I've had my Montego Blue 135i for a week now, and on five occassions, I've had people go out of their way to comment about my car. I've NEVER had this happen to me before, so I find it fascinating and fun! LOL ...check it out:
1) Two girls in a convertible Z4 drove up to me while I was driving through DC's Gallery Place area (entertainment sector), and they said my car was pretty hot. Then they asked me to race them! I just laughed (yup, I was just being kind, as I don't think they had a clue, LOL) 2) I was driving next to the Washington Monument, when a guy in a VW Golf (GT?) leaned over and said "how do you like it?" (and smiled)...and I said it was awesome, and he was like "I'm thinking about it" (with a sly smirk) 3) Driving on M Street in Georgetown, a car full of guys opened their windows and complimented the car, asking what it was, because they didn't know it had come out. 4) At a gas station, a bunch of guys with their pimped-out, glitter painted 300C's said they've never seen this type of BMW. They asked, "is it a 5-Speed?" And I was like, (kinda laughing) "actually, it's a 6-Speed" and they were like "Damn, boy!" 5) At an Auto Zone parking lot, one of the patrons came out and wanted to check my car out. He said he'd never seen it before and asked if it was fast. I gave my usual line, lol I'd love to hear about your experiences, so post away!!

Usually, it's just a silent tribute by the way of having their head stick all the way out the window, rubbernecking.

I had a compliment from a Benz owner. His was a convertible, didn't see the numbers on the back...He said it was really nice, to which I replied the Benz wasn't a slouch....Also had a BMW 3(I think it was a Montego Blue 335i???) following me, pulled up alongside of me(and stay in the blind spot like an idiot), and then checked me in the rear view. As he was passing me, the look on his face was PISSED!!!!! Kinda like "I'm not the coolest thing on the road anymore?? I want my mommy".....The guy was an idiot....

Have had my 128i 'vert about a month and a half and have received surprisingly few comments. A guy at Montgomery Mall complimented the car and asked how I liked the new one series, so at least one person in the area is aware of it. While I was sitting in Colesville with the top down, another guy asked if it had the metal folding top.

I have had two people so far give me a thumbs up while driving, two different times eating out you could see my car from the parking lot and both times people were talking about how it was the new 1 series and how nice it was.

I have gotten looks, and compliments everywhere I have driven the car. I think alot of people don't know what it is and are curious and others just haven't seen one before. People who know what it is I think just like to look at it since there are not much on the road right now. I like that fact to be honest, makes me feel like I have a rare car, which us one owners have right now!

Windows up - had a girl honk her horn to get me to roll them down so she could say how much she LOVED the paint and the styling of the car.

Here's DC135i standing by his other BMW. "This car is nice but you should see the looks I get in my 135i. All the girls want to race. A few guys too . I don't get it."

There is a car museum in my town that often holds car shows/meets for different types of cars and car enthusiasts. I happen to be driving by on my way to play golf this Saturday when they were having a German car show out in the lot and on the lawn. I could watch all the heads turn and saw a few guys point as I drove by. From the reaction I don't think many had seen the 1 series. If I wasn't late for a tee time I would have stopped.

I get lots of people following me, or zipping thru traffic to get up beside me, or get in front of me to see the front. I've gotten lots of comments wherever I park and there are people around. Some of led to some very nice conversations with people.

The CEO of my company has a 550i, and he absolutely loves my car, and the VP of Operations thinks that the 1 series is the best desinged BMW ever.

Wow...I'd drool over the 550i, I'd lie if I said I'd take the 135i over that. Having both on the other hand would be nice.

Guilty as charged. Only when I saw the 1er for the first time. I was getting on the freeway and I saw a black BMW coupe blaze by me, and the thought of it being the 135i popped in my mind. So I was zipping through traffic to catch up and see. He then noticed and positioned himself so I could get a good look, and then after several seconds he just took off w/o an ounce of effort.

He traded in his 545i for the 55i, and they are cars that make your jaw drop. I don't know why he just didn't go for the M5, with the sticker price of the 550i, and the M5 they are pretty close lol |

True, out of your regular BMWs the 550i is my fav. If you got to through Ms into the mix, the M5 hands down would be my fav. I think the next time I head into a dealership, probably around the time I pick up my car rather, I'll test drive the rest of the cars I really like.

I've had many, many people comment about my car...lots of rubbernecking out car windows...one guy even stopped me in moving traffic just to ask what it was.
I love this car. I'm a first time BMW owner and at this point I wouldn't even consider owning any other make...it is truly the ultimate driving machine. |
