Rear rattles

Picked up car on Monday. Heard a rattle in the rear. Thought it was the rear plate but I screwed that down. Nothing in trunk. Sounds like rear deck or something in that area is clangging. I have rear shades. Anyone else with this?

Does it sound sort of metalic? Do you only hear it when you hit a bump instead of a continous rattle? I noticed a lot of posts about it previously but they made it sound like it was a continous rattle. Mine is only a metal on metal sound when I hit a sharp bump. Thought it was my son's car seat, but I'm starting to wonder now.

Thats exactly what it sounds like. Sounds like a lincense plate and the metal plate cover banging together but I screwed both down. It somewhere in the back near the rear shelf or in the trunk. Nothing in the trunk. Only when I hit a bump.

Do you have rear fold-down seats? If so, open them and then close them firmly (hard).

Ive now heard something on my rear shelf. Almost as if the seal is off with my back window and the body of the car. Dont know if this is a familiar sound to some of you or not...

Yeah, I actually have that same noise. It sounds like the rear deck is creaking up against the window or something...

You notice it recently when the weather has gotten a bit colder?

I hear it on the rear parcel shelf. There is a peice of plastic that meets the glass, if i push down on it, it makes the same noise. I was going to remove it and fit it with some sticky felt but haven't had the chance yet- Plus it looks like a complicated removal via the trunk, if any of you guys get it fixed let me know.

Check the cupholders in the back. The could be loose. Stuff the rear cup holders with paper or something and see if that eliminates the rattles. If so, you know you have a rattling rear cup holder.

I have the same problem, noise coming from the rear shelf/window area. Kind of sounds like the window is crackling a little. Noticing more in cold weather. Just got the car last Monday

One thread mentioned something about isolating the problem to the rear parcel shelf. But I'll give the rear seat thing a whirl.

My son's car seat makes so much noise when he's not in it that I barely notice the other rattle.

this is exactly what i found too. i'm pretty sure the noises u guys are hearing are from the rear parcel shelf / vent thingy. it's almost as if it's not sealed properly so whenever the car vibrates or flexes, it makes a creaking/popping sound.

Its kinda funny actually... The rattle I had in my passengers side front door went away, and this one appeared

Just another thing on the list for when I bring it in...

Heres my list so far:
1 - Fix the bluetooth module (only connects 2/3 of the time)
2 - Rattle in right side fron door
3 - Rattle in rear shelf/window
4 - Program Key memory
5 - Un-program auto door locks (until its available with auto-unlock)

Any luck with the rattles?

I am quite sure it's the thermal expansion near the air ducts. I turn my climate control off completely, rattles gone. Turn it back on, come back again. At least this is the case for my car..

Are you sure? Sounds like a metal on metal sound when I go over bumps. Checked the rear cup holders and that was not the problem. It did seem to lessen when I turned on the rear defrosters.

I took the cover off and tha battery seems tight. It seems to be coming from the rear shelf area. Any suggestions!

For my case, it sounds like plastic cracking.
