After a veeery long wait of 13 or so months I finally hit the nail and ordered my Evolve-R to remap my Euro Spec e87 130i. Needless to say I am very excited and looking forward to see what they can do in an already highly tuned version from the factory.

As we know the gains on 125i/128i are remarkable but not so in the 130i since they come pretty much maxed out from the factory. Even so they usually get 15 more HP for a total of 280 (nominally speaking and considering my car does the advertised 265) Regardless I am after improving driveablity and throttle response in daily driving conditions which I am very sure it will.

To be honest the 130i is really perfect in the engine department and is almost spot on with my only complains being...

* The engine doesn't redline, it, for whatever reason, cuts out at 6800 rpms in all gears. I will request a 7200 rpm cut off
* The last 300 rpms seem laggish, I have read that the remap takes care of this!
* There is a deep in the power band at 3500rpms or so, I know the dip will be there but I am looking into having this guised.

Oh! and they have a special running thru the weekend so it cost me 679.15 with free shipping!!!!!!!

I will keep you posted and update you guys. I do not have access to a dyno but I am planning to do three runs from 2000 to 6500 rpms in third gear and average the time pre/post the remap.

Very nice, welcome to the club!

The dip at 3500r or so is the DISA valves flipping over. Evolve smooths it out, but it is definitely still there a bit. Odd that your car fuel cuts at 6800rpm...

Jealous of your hatch! Coupes are idiotic.

I have been researching ways to tune my US spec 128i and evolve seems to be the best route. My question is why did bmw give the US spec 230 HP and the euro 130i 265 HP? Did BMW give a legit explanation? Just curious.

Because 265 doesn't look that far off from 300 in many consumer's eyes.

Hmmm just to make the 135i more attractive. I bet the us spec n52 would make similar power with disa and tune. If not more. But I can tell you I drove the 135i auto (dct) and 128i manual and I preferred the 128i. Hence why I bought it. I already have the disa manifold I'm just saving for the tune. The St1g had good results with this combo so I cannot see why it wouldn't work for my 128i.

The sale is active until December 2nd, I believe. Evolve also has a 10% off Christmas sale - at least they did last year.

Btw, congrats maupineda. Update us with your progress.

My old 130i would go all the way to 7250 rpm before cutting out
I loved that car! I put it through hell and back and it never ever missed a beat!

Yeah I have seen videos in u2b with them running all the way to 7k, my car despite being an 12/05 seem to has been never touched by the dealer as in INPA the programing date are very close to build date so that could the reason.

Is yours manual or auto? I know the auto's shift at 6800 but that can be fixed with a tune.

It is Manual as dictated by the laws of the BMW enthusiasts

Oh oh, not this shit again. I guess I'm not a BMW enthusiast because our soon-to-have 135 is 6MT and our E91 is also manual, haha. Wanted a 125i but couldn't find any example to even test drive so... Went with the N55.

By the way, 130i's are awesome! I heard that after LCI BMW messed the engine's ECU to be less aggresive and so on... Though not your case since you have an early model, maupineda!

Just kidding about the "enthusiasts" thing, at some point I actually wanted a 135i but to be honest it wasn't financially within my reach, i may still get one in the future, though will be a M135 as I am a hatch body style fan personally.

You are right I have read that too, actually LCI models were declared to have 258ps and not 265 as pre-LCI models. What i have found is they changed the emission spec from euro 4 to euro 6 which certainly had something to do. The exhaust manifold seems to be different and they changed the ecu from msv70 to msv80

Like you say I am fine as mine is an early car.

Me too, mate.

I think I'm going to buy the Car and Driver's Save the Manuals! stickers and place it onto our cars.

Still waiting for a company to take the time to develop a tune for the N51...grrrrrrr

Anyways, fuel cut-off at redline isn't that uncommon. It is the same way on my Z4M.

Here is a decent video. Cut-off happens on exit of the long right hand sweeper at 0:43 seconds...I'm fairly sure you'll notice/hear it. There is no bouncing at the limiter what-so-ever.

A few goodies I got for this Christmas. This is is what I enjoy the most when traveling to the US. everything is so cheap!

Sun Glass bin to replace the driver useless grab handle

1M Cluster Binnacle

And, help me with my decision. debating to install this

or preserve the ash tray with lighter/power point. If the latter I need to source another one as I recently installed the aluminum trim and my ash try is gray plastic... doing this would cost me 80 more bucks and I am trying to decide to just install the 20 bucks bin. what annoys me of this is to having to take the whole console apart once more. if I get the aluminum ashtray I can just take the aluminum cover and put it on my old tray that is already installed but without any trim :P
