Porsche quotes the weight for the lightest possible spec per EU6 regs. In this case that's no AC (18 lbs), no radio (9 lbs), smaller fuel tank (20 lbs), PCCB brakes (33 lbs, $7.5k), bucket seats (24 lbs, $4.8k), LiIon battery* (30 lbs, $2.5k) no other options. Fluids are then full, except for gas at 90% (11 lbs). If you spec and weigh the car that way you should hit the claimed 2955 lb curb weight.
I expect only a handful of cars to leave the factory that way, and I haven't heard of any so far.

On the other hand, the offer might have an additional reason. As we know, the official curb weight (unladen mass) figure includes weight of fuel at nominal tank capacity. Hence, for the official GT4 curb weight figure, Porsche only needs to take into account the weight of 54 liter of fuel (instead of 64 liter) ...despite the fact that most GT4s will likely feature the optional 64 liter fuel tank. Otherwise stated: juggling with curb weight. So BMW, fit the M2 stock with a 30 liter fuel tank and offer - free of charge - an optional 52 or 60 liter tank, to further reduce the official curb weight figure.

Exactly correct. The smaller tank is also fitted to the Spyder, making it the lightest Porsche on sale. Except if you put the same amount of fuel in it as the base Boxster (ie 5 gallons each) it's the base car that's going to be lighter. But Porsche can claim a sub 2900 lb curb weight. How's that for marketing?

Just got news from a GT3 RS owner that the GT4 RS is a go...BUT...they'll finish all the production of the GT4 first before starting on the RS so who knows how long that's gonna take. Not completely sure how solid this is but for those who couldn't get a hold of a GT4 and really wanted one, there's still hope.
Since my spot isn't quite firm yet and build may start in Oct/Nov, I'm thinking if I should move my deposit on the RS and get an earlier RS spot. The itch is big on this and I'd be pretty inclined for the RS if I got the GT4. Decisions... What would you guys do?

AX in my GT4 yesterday. Fastest car on street tires there out of ~120 drivers- the car is quick out of the box despite the tall gearing. Around 1.5-2 seconds faster than my 1M on equal tires. Perhaps slightly more fun on this course, but probably less so on others.

Mild understeer stock, but I stiffened the rear bar one click and it cured it. It'd be easy to dial in oversteer by softening the front bar- no question the MT car had something wrong with it.
Some driveways are tricky. I couldn't get out of a Starbucks on my drive back without significant scraping. Not a huge deal- the lip is black so it doesn't show, and it's replaceable, but it is low enough that it does make the car less usable. Massively different cars, almost polar opposites in many respects... I'll write it up when I get some time, but other than being rare, manual and fast the cars have very little in common.

Pretty much nails it. One is the perfect track car while the other is a great daily driver.

For those wishing they could get a GT4... As a street car, this is better:
http://rennlist.com/forums/987-981-f...ied-today.html No AC though, so you'd better live up north...

At the Track
https://youtu.be/jisTNJMDppg
Had the pleasure of driving the GT4 at the track during an event I was running last weekend. Unfortunately, I wasn't allowed to go balls to the wall. It's as good as all the reviews have repeatedly stated. If I had the means, this would be my weekend and track day car as Porsche GT cars are really meant for life at the track. The stock brakes are incredible. Grip and ride quality are phenomenal. There's nothing in the BMW stable that comes close to this, so there is no comparison. IMO a stock E9x M3 sounds better from a spectator's point of view (see video) , but the engine sound inside of the GT4's cockpit is pure bliss. Pete's autox video captures some of the aural delight.
