Hi auscow..
what do you mean? 2009 plated model? Hmm.. I don't understand why you would want to wait as most people would want it out of the dealer asap  cause I believe if it's DEC delivery it will be the 09 1-er.. mine it's 9/12 too

There are 2 dates on any car. Built date and Compliance Plate Date. The built date is what matters when it comes time to sell. Compliance plate doesn't mean much really. I have come across cars with comp dates a LOT later than their built dates.
So basically, don't listen to what the dealer says, take delivery and enjoy now!!

I was under the impression that your cars year model is based on the year of compliance. So if you waited for a 2009 compliance your car will technically be a 2009 model regardless of the fact that it was built in 2008.

Many years ago I did a stint selling new cars, and the only date that mattered to the used car valuers was the built date.
To many private buyers, the comp. plate probably will hold some credence, but I can assure you that to dealers, the built date of the car is what matters when it's being valued.

Exactly right. That's why built date is what matters.

My car arrives today at Port Kembla on then Don Quijote at 16:00 after a very long wait (ordered in July built in October). Being built in October, I also relate the MY?? being tied to the build date as the MY09 model change is where the new hard disk based iDrive was introduced.
