Do I have the BMW performance exhaust?

I bought this 09 with 7k miles from a local dealer. I suspect my throaty exhaust is not stock. Did I get a present?

Visually, the standard oem exhaust has black chrome tips whereas the Performance exhaust has polished stainless steel tips. Also, I highly doubt BMW would sell you a BMW with a modified exhaust. You're very lucky!!

IMO the Perf exhaust tips stick out too far. Or the shops aren't installing them correctly and cutting enough of your OEM B-pipe off. '

What do you guys think?

Mine stuck out that and I couldn't stand it. I ended up cutting them and putting the perf tips back on. I do believe that is how it is supposed to look though. They made the tips stick out far enough that they would be flush with the CF rear diffuser.

Yeah, the tips would be flush with the diffuser on the "performance" bumper. I don't think it looks bad on the stock bumper especially when the tips are clean.

I agree, when clean and from the right angles it is ok. I was just so used to the perf tips that I missed them when they were gone.

I was thinking about going with the rear diffuser next but the the extended tips have grown on me and make the car look sportier in my opinion:

They stick out that far by design, shops that are cutting the mid-section shorter are in the wrong (which I've seen several threads to the nature of).

I scored the BMW perf exhaust on my CPO. I love the way it sounds. Especially on start up.

no offense but I never realized how plain-Jane their perf exhaust tips actually look.

They look good cleaned up and in person. They are bigger than that first picture makes them seem.
