Meh not that big of a deal. Why do things like this bother people so much that they feel they need to 'report' it to an internet forum?

You live in this area?

I work in Fairfield but live in Newport.

Honk me if you ever see me driving around! I have an AW 135i vert.

I think I've seen maybe 1 other 135i coupe in this area when I was driving back home. Who knows, maybe it was you. I think it was a silver or grey one.

Clearly this person is a M fan --> used to view this differently. Unless if the person is obviously faking it...

May be someone need to come up with a consensus that M fans need to place their M badge on the left hand side and have their numbers remain intack.

Or put the ///M in front of the numbers so it looks like ///M135

I don't really care.
BMW has diluted the M brand so much that most people don't know the difference.
There is enough M badging in the 135i that nearly everyone asks if it's an M.

Now they are doing M-sports which are inbetween M and the normal model or something!?

TBH, the rest of the world doesn't know/care. For example I have a female friend who thought I drove a "M3" because that's pretty much the only BMW she knows and there's M symbols in the car from the M sports kit.

ROFL. What a joke! Who is that guy trying to impress?

If I was you, I would have walked up to the car and ripped it off.

In the end, the person who knows its not a "real" M looks the other way, and the ones that haven't got a clue, don't really care... At least, that's how I am.

Doesn't bother me in the end..no biggie.. Each to their own little fantasy.

I think with BMW producing the "M"-Sport now its not really the same "exclusive" badge it once was.
Most manufacturers have this symbol as it represents a state of tune. Obviously it used to be M3 was a tuned 3 series coupe. This level of tune where the exclusive "M" word is used has obviously changed today.
So it may be a bit different if he put an actual "1M" badge or a "M3" badge when its not..

I dont really have a problem with things like this especially as its just the "M". Fair enough if its a stock car with a M badge it might look a bit silly (it kinda looks a bit odd on the pic above), but if the guy has done a heap of work or it actually is a M-Sport model from factory then there isnt really any reason to ridicule the bloke.
I have a simple m-sport 120d. Not that i really have the urge to put a m-badge on the back although there are "M" symbols on the wheels, steering wheel, door sills etc..

If people are that disgusted in it why dont you leave the "M" badge and go for something more exotic like the custom tune house badges. Then you would be more exclusive i would think..

In case you didn't know, there is no such thing as a 1M badge, what he has used above is what distinguishes a 1M from any other 1er. It is a simple ///M badge off another ///M car and is a fake, just like a watch bought in Beijing.

Mmmm interesting comments and while I wouldn't put an M badge on my car, it does have a bunch of M badges being an M-sport, just not on the rear. I think most enthusiasts would look down on this even though most worked cars are faster than the M equivalent

I think your missing the point here.. the badge doesn't distinguish the 1M from the others. It simply has an M badge on the back to represent the M tuning it has. The 1M obviously having quiet a bit of it.
Not that im saying that guy has M tuning or whatever. Its obviously not a 1M. But then i dont think he's trying to say it is.

Like i said even my lowly 120D M-sport has the "M" badge scattered everywhere from factory. It doesnt mean its trying to be anything it isn't, or is a fake? But obviously the 1M or M3 etc aren't the only cars now that have the exclusive M badge everywhere. BMW simply doesn't do it like that anymore.

At the end of the day people are always going do stuff like this for whatever reasons. Is it really worth worrying about to the point you post their car and rego number on a public forum? I dont think so.
