2012 128i M sport package--short shifter?

just ordered a 128i coupe with the M sport pack. dealer says it includes a ssk--but this is not mentioned in any of bmw's literature. can anyone verify if this is the case? is the shifter on the M sport pack different than the 128 stock shifter? any help would be much appreciated.

well having a 128i with the m-sport I can say that the shifter at first did feel short. The shifter is about 70mm from what I now but know it feels like shifter would.

However I did have the ability to drive one with out the m-sport and I can tell you I felt no difference.

Others though may have different experience.

Did you order the car brand new? Because if so, the SSK is not standard (either with or without the Sport or M-Sport Packages). There is a BMW Performance SSK available through the accessory catalog. If you're getting a used car, perhaps the previous owner had it installed?

well you have the M-sport knob, but the shifter itself is the same. you can buy the performance shift kit as stated above. i think dan from unitedbmwonline probably sells it cheaper then your dealer.

SSK is dealer installed option. When your car arrives, it will be put on the car on the port of entry. SSK shrinks down the throw considerably, however, I love the M-knob that comes with Msport package over the SSK knob. You can ask them leave the original M knob in place and just have the SSK put on.

I personally didn't need the SSK.

Sup sandman didnt read anyone elses response but just responding to u so ur question mightve been answered alrdy, i got a 2012 128 msport too and yeah the shifter itself is not an actual short shifter at all, but then shift knob is a lot smaller which possibly makes the whole shif stick look shorter and surely it does look shortly, and it has a nice m on top of the shift knob, but im sure performance and shifting wise it is no difference at all as it is not an actual short shifter.. I asked the dealer they sell a performance short shifter for our cat for roughly 500 bucks which i think is a joke lol good luck bro

$500? Your dealer is nuts. The parts are less than $200 if ordered by part numbers, and even the "BMW Performance SSK" is like $272 for the kit.
