Just Apex It's '11 135i 6MT M Sport Photo History & Build
I figured it was finally time to put together a thread to document the maintenance, modifications, and history of my car to keep track of all in one place. I will try to follow a format that Suprgnat has done in his thread as it is extremely simple and easy to follow.
This is not my first BMW and certainly won't be my last. As I decided to sell my 335i, I was on the hunt for the 135i that I wanted. It had to be N55, manual, and iDrive. Boy, talk about a tough combo to find since the majority of these are DCT and when you do come across a manual, most of the time they lack iDrive. After two months of looking daily, I finally came across a freshly listed car without photos by a dealer one night and decoded the VIN. It finally met the requirements! The car was in Atlanta, GA (Marietta specifically), about 6 hours away and I bought a bus ticket later that week after discussing with the dealer and having a good friend that lives in the Atlanta area look the car over. On July 27th, 2018 I got to the dealership early in the morning and finally feasted my eyes on the car for the first time. This car was in absolutely phenomenal shape and extremely clean. I knew I had made the right decision. Signed the paperwork, got the keys, and I was on my way. Not without stopping for some breakfast, a quick photoshoot, and lunch with a couple friends first before heading home that afternoon. 7/27/2018, 62,200 miles - Purchased my 135i. Drove 6 hours home afterwards without a single hiccup.
7/28/2018 - The chargepipe blew on day 2. Replaced it with a stock one from a friend temporarily while the new chargepipe arrived. 8/3/2018 - Went out to the Werg's Detail Open Shop Night 8/4/2018 - Motorsports by Reeves Cars & Coffee 8/8/2018 - Boston beige interior swapped out for the terracotta brown interior 8/14/2018 - AA chargepipe installed 8/15/2018 - Tampa Bimmer Club meet at Ben T. Davis beach 8/17/2018 - Red start button and BMS clutch stop installed 8/20/2018 - Genuine BMW rear sunshade sourced and installed 8/25/2018 - Got together with some guys from the Tampa Bimmer Club and went on a North Loop Run through some great roads in central FL. 8/26/2018 - Installed a used BMS intake and ordered a new filter 9/1/2018 - Another cars & coffee at MbR 9/8/2018 - Headlight PPF installed and a quick photo taken later that night by a good friend. 9/13/2018 - 12.5mm spacers front and 10mm spacers rear installed 9/15/2018 - I had ordered some gauge overlays from a seller on eBay and ordered them in gray (to mimic the E39/E46 generation M's and 335iS). I went ahead and installed them and tried my hand at wrapping the needles in a transparent red film. It is extremely hard to get the overlays laid down without any bubbles and the needle wrap job did not work out as well as I had hoped. The overlays also are dim at night when lit up even at max brightness. A lesson learned here. 9/17/2018 - I was able to source a whole set of Genuine BMW sunshades, the sides and rear this time. 9/23/2018 - Did my first autocross in the new car with the FAST organization at a local airport. 9/29/2018 - LUX 160 AE bulbs installed 10/5/2018 - PPK1 tune flashed via BMW Standard Tools as well as a list of options coded 10/7/2018 - Went to FL2K to spectate with some friends 10/25/2018, 67,930 miles - oil changed with Liqui Moly 5W-40 12/1/2018 - Cars & coffee at MbR and donated some toys to Toys for Tots 12/25/2018 - Ziza LED interior kit installed 12/29/2018 - Went to the drag strip with the car for the first time. 2.3 60’ obviously needs some work, but I’m not a drag racer nor is this what the car is meant for. 12/31/2018 - Met up with a buddy for some tacos before the year ended. It was definitely a good day! Last edited by Just Apex It; 12-26-2019 at 04:47 PM.. |

1/4/2019 - MHD flasher, monitoring, and stage 2 map packs purchased.
1/5/2019 - Went to the Roar before the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway. Always an awesome experience getting to see all the cars up close. Peep Will Turner in the picture! 1/17/2019 - Drove to Melbourne, FL to help my sister get her new car. Nice little mini road trip in the car. About 5 hours in total of driving that night. 1/19/2019 - Drove down to Immokalee, FL for the WannaGoFast 1/2 mile event for the day. Chit chatted with the guys from Motiv and Tuning Dynamics and checked out all the cars there. It's always a good time chatting with Jake and Chris from Motiv Motorsports and it's nice to see local indy shop Tuning Dynamics down there supporting the Motiv guys. Check out the sick Bav Gruppe headlights that Accorsi Engineering did on Motiv's shop E90. Absolutely beautiful work! 1/20/2019 - Stayed the night in Miami, FL and got to check out the nightlife and everything Miami had to offer. Grabbed some breakfast and met up with Miami Bimmer Club for the Run to Key Largo. Tons of awesome cars there, from E31's and clown shoes, to brand new M4s. Tons of variety and they people in the group were all so friendly. Thanks again Jimmy for setting the event up! 2/17/2019 - A few members from Orlando Bimmer Club decided to come on down to Tampa for some photos and I had to show them a couple good spots. Always nice to chit chat with other Bimmer owners. 3/7/2019 - Suspension parts picked up from a good friend. 3k miles on some of these parts with the rest being new in the box still. Always nice to get a good deal on some gently used stuff! (Not pictured are the Koni Yellows) 3/16/2019 - The 12 hours of Sebring! My first time at this race and from my understanding, the first time BMW had a hospitality center on Turn 1 for free to BMW owners. It was definitely nice to be able to escape the rain this way. 3/27/2019, 74,161 miles - Oil changed with Liqui Moly 5W-40 oil 4/4/2019 - Picked up a used VRSF catless downpipe and 7" HD intercooler for a great deal! 4/6/2019 - Intercooler installed 4/20/2019 - Catless downpipes installed 4/23/2019 - I had been going back and forth on making a decision for wheels and tires since the AS3+'s were getting low on tread and needing to be replaced. 18s vs 19s, square vs staggered, etc. and kept going back and forth. I knew just how great a square setup was for handling from when I did it on my old E90, but ultimately staggered 19s won. Man am I happy even to this day that I went staggered 19s. Vertini RF1.2 wheels showed up today after 2 months of being made to my custom specs. Now for them to go off and get ceramic coated. 5/3/2019 - Stage 2 LPFP from Paul Parks installed. 5/4/2019 - New wheels and tires got mounted and balanced and then removed the trailer hitch the prior owner had on. Finally, I went off to put some E50 in the car (note: third brake light had just broken the night before and new one was ordered that day) and get the car on the DynoJet! Very happy with the results of the OTS E50 map and basic bolt ons. 376whp/448wtq 5/9/2019 - Quick little Bimmer meet up 5/11/2019 - Kevin from Master's Smart Repairs was in town and I got him all set up at Tuning Dynamics to do a whole days worth of cars. Kevin does everything interior related: reupholstery, reconditioning, headliners, etc. and is amongst the best! He's constantly traveling all over the country. If you ever have a chance to have him do some interior work to your car, you will not regret it! I had him completely recondition my front seats. See the results for yourself. Later that day, I went home and installed the new Coby alcantara boots and Rogue Engineering CF race shift knob. Before: After: 5/29/2019 - Bought some Swift Spec-R lowering springs gently used off the forums. 6/1/2019 -BMW offered a free autox in the new G20 330i M Sport as well as test drives for their whole line up minus M models. Also had the 4th fastest lap time out of our group of 22. Not too shabby. 6/4/2019 - Replaced the third brake light with a Dorman. Shoddy quality. Replaced with a used OEM later. 6/8/2019 - Rear M3 control arms installed and BMS intake removed. 6/23/2019, ~77,000 miles - Suspension finally installed! Koni Yellows, Swift Spec-R lowering springs, M3 front control arms, and Powerflex rear upper shock mounts. I quickly determined I needed camber plates once the car was on all four again. So a set of Dinan camber plates were in order. 6/28/2019 - Dinan camber plates arrive and get installed. 6/29/2019 - Alignment done at Advance Performance. Nice to know I can get a little over -3* of camber. 7/3/2019, 77,777 miles - I set out on my 4th of July road trip up into the mountains! First stop: Atlanta! 7/4/2019 - Explored Atlanta and went to Stone Mountain to celebrate Independence Day and met up with a Bimmer friend there. 7/5/2019 - The next day, we set out to our next destination: Nashville. But not without first stopping to do some white water rafting and stopping by Lookout Mountain. Then we explored all Nashville had to offer and did a taste testing at Green Brier Distillery and stopped by a couple breweries. 7/6/2019 - Time to start heading back towards home. Next we went to Helen to go tubing and then back to Atlanta to get a Braves baseball game in and stop by New Realm Brewing Company. Thankfully I was able to hit Russell Scenic Highway and the car performed absolutely beautifully with the new suspension setup! 7/7/2019 - Quick stop at Caffeine & Octane Sunday morning in Atlanta before finally hitting the road. Another 6 hours on the road to get back home in Florida. C&O was awesome, nice array of cars and great people. 7/13/2019 - Cars & Coffee at Dimmitt Audi 7/14/2019, 79,247 miles - Modified E90 cluster from LMB335IS (IG @ClustersandCoding) with white led backlight for the gauges and factory amber for the LCD (I.E. just like E9x M3) and red M3 needles got installed. Had to trim a lot to make it fit and ultimately was just not happy with how it fit. A factory like fitment just can't be had, so this did not last too long. 7/22/2019 - Installed the BMW Performance gloss black kidney grilles and snapped a quick pic of the car in the driveway. 7/25/2019 - CF V style lip arrived and installed. 7/27/2019 - Clean Culture at Daytona International with Orlando Bimmer Club 8/3/2019 - Cars & Coffee at MbR followed by getting the roof wrapped gloss black by Priime Vinyl. That's all for tonight! Almost there! Last edited by Just Apex It; 12-31-2019 at 04:29 PM.. |

I'm going to continue with the rest of 2019 with a new post.
8/6/2019 - I went to Orlando for the week for work and decided to stop by Ace Cafe for their BMW Night and meet up with some of the guys from Orlando Bimmer Club. 8/17/2019, 80,671 miles - Changed the oil with Liqui Moly 5W-40. 8/18/2019 - Cars & Corners by Drive Florida on this wet morning. A nice drive on some good back roads. 8/24/2019 - Installed some LCI Blackline taillights 9/3/2019 - Snapped a few pics at the gas station. You can't beat the lighting at the gas station! 9/5/2019 - Replaced the crappy Dorman third brake light with a used OEM one. 9/7/2019 - C&C at MbR followed by a BBQ meet with Tampa Bimmer Club. I met low135 for the first time here in person. (You can see the reflection of his green 1er) 9/26/2019 - As I had mentioned before, I was not happy with the E90 cluster, so I went ahead and had LMB335IS (IG @ClustersandCoding) build me a new E82 cluster. I decided I liked the gray gauges with red needles but wanted something different than my factory gauges, so I decided on 1M gauges in gray without the ///M logo. White gauge LED backlighting and factory amber LCD backlighting (ala M3). The needles are red overlays from Blutec. Gauges arrived. Time to have LMB335IS put my cluster together and pick it up at a later time. 9/28/2019 - A good from Atlanta came into town and decided to go to Streetside Classics C&C with some of the guys from Tampa Bimmer Club. 10/5/2019 - Precision Sport Industries "Behind the Scenes Meet" Later that day, I finally picked up my cluster! 10/12/2019, 82,346 miles - replaced a coupler on the lower charge pipe intercooler connection, installed some Rogue Engineering Monoballs, and replaced the brakes with Zimmermann drilled & slotted rotors and EBC Redstuff brake pads 10/15/2019 - The first CF performance diffuser arrived, unfortunately damaged. 10/19/2019 - Went to grab a couple beers with some friends and grabbed this picture on the top of the parking garage. 11/2/2019 - C&C at MbR 11/10/2019 - Started a deep detail on the car before Fixxfest. Wheels off cleaning with some Adam's Tire Armor and application of Ceramic Boost over the current ceramic coating on the wheels. Over the course of the week, the wheel wells got cleaned, engine bay wiped down, and interior cleaned. Even removed the window sunshades for the show. 11/13/2019 - CF Performance spoiler rep arrived. Removed the factory spoiler and unfortunately the rep did not fit properly at all with the gaps on both sides. The car still doesn't have a spoiler, and honestly I'm loving the look. I may just not even bother with a spoiler. 11/15/2019 - Clayed and washed the car for the Fixxfest event for the next day. 11/16/2019 - Today's the day: Fixxfest 2019! 11/23/2019 - Went for a nice drive on North Loop with a friend and grabbed beers afterwards. 12/7/2019 - C&C at MbR. They did their annual Toys for Tots drive and they always get hundreds of toys donated from this event! Then went out for breakfast with some friends. 12/8/2019 - Drive Florida Rally 10 Coast to Coast: Crystal River to Daytona Beach This was my first rally ever and when this ended, I was bit by the bug, HARD. Tons of awesome people and everyone was very friendly. The atmosphere was positive and a good time was just generally had. Lots of camaraderie made on this rally and tons of great roads! 12/14/2019 - The second CF diffuser finally arrived and in good shape. Got that installed and taped up the front end with some Trakktape in preparation of that nights Poker Run Rally. 12/15/2019 - Werg's Automotive Open Shop Day And that brings us to the current day! 12/22/2019, 85,721 miles - oil changed with Liqui Moly Molgen 5W-40 oil
12/31/2019 - Gave the car it's last detail of the year in and out.

Love how your gauge cluster finally turned out! Also surprised with how good the trunk looks with no spoiler at all. And very impressed with how clean you keep the car! Keep it up! Any big plans for 2020?
Also, I just realized we both have 2011's with 85,000 miles. #Twins

See, I keep hearing that from others and myself. I was gonna buy a OEM CF Performance spoiler, but seeing the car without one and being able to see the lines and curves better has me liking it so much I may just save the $300+ instead. Haha, appreciate it! I try to wash it weekly, bi-weekly at worst case. Adams Polishes is always the go to for keeping it clean. 🙌🏻 For 2020, I've got quite a bit of plans. This will be the year of maintenance. So entire cooling system plus CSF radiator and probably do a PS1 since it's only a few more steps, gaskets, pulleys and belt, coils and spark plugs, all the fluids changed, etc. After seeing your install of the Mosselmann oil cooler, it's got me leaning towards doing that versus doing some other oil cooler. The quality looks really impressive on that unit. I will likely respray the front bumper this year due to all the rock chips from the rallies unfortunately, and get it wrapped in PPF after. Also ordered a bunch of headlight parts on Black Friday. Got my order from BavGruppe and Lightwerkz, just waiting on my order from TRS to ship later this month (backordered parts). Then my headlights will be going off to Accorsi Engineering in February. I can't wait! Headlight build will look like this: LCI conversion using parts from LCI halogen lights BavGruppe DTM switchback rings Phillips XV Gen 2 D1S bulbs NHK G5 BRT projectors Lightwerkz Valeo AFS Retrofit brackets Morimoto HB LED projectors Quad demon eyes Custom LED switchback brow Custom LED switchback turn signal Gloss black paint with space gray accents I thought the same thing when I was reading your thread! Lol, funny how the cars are similar in those aspects. Haha

The rest of the headlight parts finally arrived! Only thing not pictured are the G5 projectors and brackets since those were already dropped off with Accorsi Engineering. Hoping these headlights can get done in February. 🙌🏻

I like the cluster a lot. Specially because my car is cement grey in the exterior. I'm curious to see what they look once lit at night time. Do you have any photos?
