For what its worth. Mine was installed today. I am in San Diego, CA and was told by the service writer that mine was the first that they have seen for a one series car. Apparently they are shipped with specific vin numbers for specific cars.

Could you post the air bag part number from your paperwork?

Mine is pictured above- 32 30 6 884 328
That's for an '09 Sport wheel with controls and paddles

If somebody that got a temp new/old stock replacement has a part number they can share that would be good too. Trying to get an idea of the part numbers being used...

Mine lists both a part number (same as yours) 32-30-6-884-328 and a 13 digit "air bag number". The car is a '12 135i with the standard steering wheel.

Any particular way I can ensure I'll be getting my letter/call? I didn't buy my car from a BMW dealer (actually a Chevy one the PO bought a brand new Z06). I registered on MyBMW with my VIN and all. Anything else I gotta do to be registered into BMW's network or whatever? Maybe I'm overthinking this.

You can call your dealer service dept and they can make sure you're on the list.

When you have it replaced, do you an entire unit with including a new center BMW emblem?

I just picked up a '13 135is this past weekend and it came with service documentation showing that the airbag has been replaced. When I was talking to the sales manager guy he mentioned that they're not allowed to sell them without having the airbag replaced first. :

He was also giving us a bit of a hassle about the is350 we traded in not having had the recall done, and lexus not having a fix for it in place yet, but that's their problem now lol.

Good your airbag was replaced.

You should start an introduction thread here and tell us about your car (color, options, etc.) and post some pics.

I only have access to MS Paint, best I could do was edit my profile pic and avatar

2013 135is VRM coupe 6MT w/coral seats, 19k miles, I'm the 2nd owner and just picked it up this past Sunday. Original owner had it special ordered with every package except adaptive steering and heated seats. Full service records from the dealership the original guy bought it from, which is also where I bought it.

I've got a JB4, charge pipe, K&N drop-in and some LUX angel eyes on the way. Should be a neat toy.

Very nice car! I think the 135is is a special car. There is a 135is thread you can post in if you like and introduce yourself to other 135is owners.

One way to post pics is to go to the advanced posting section and use the paperclip icon.

I was in a rental, received a call from enterprise that said my parts are in and I need to return my car bc bmw will stop paying. I turned in the car, tried to set up an appointment and bmw did not have my parts. now I have no rental and when I called bmw the service manger said the issue is resolved and since the issue is not dangerous bmw ended all rentals. But I could tell he was giving me the run around. He said my car is safe and he will check the status of when my airbags will come in. I had a Dodge Charger hemi rental. Now nothing! Pretty pissed bc he never got back to me and now I have to wait until Monday to find out what's going on.

When I bought mine earlier this month (couldn't sell until fixed - CPO car), they replaced the entire cover including the emblem. It still had a blue hued sticker over it.

Yeah... "shot or stabbed." Sounds like people are getting mugged.

Just called the dealer stating my status and was told my car is "clear". Also that the issue is VIN specific, anyone hear this?? It's a first for me i got the letter a few months ago which clearly stated "2008-2013 1 series". My dealer is pretty good and usually on top of things and takes good care of me so I guess I'll take there word.

Haven't heard that. Unless it was replaced before you bought your car. Did you check BMW's recall site?

http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte...eoverride=true

Called my dealer the other day and they said to wait for a 2nd letter saying the parts were in for my specific car.
