Can't find under tray plate for sale. Dealer can't find it.
I broke one of the under tray parts, the one that connects the front bumper to the large under tray. It has part number 51758044591 printed on it. I searched for it online, and found it on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/08-BMW-E82-E...-/161557447250
That price seems stupid high for a piece of plastic. The problem is I can't find it online anywhere else. That part number does not seem to exist. RealOEM.com doesn't even seem to show it. The dealer can't find it either. I've got a 2009 135i I bought new, so I know this is original. Anyone know where I can find one at a decent price?

You can't find it because that's part of the front underhood tray. It comes in two pieces.

Seems crazy not to sell that part seperate. That's all that's broken on my car, although it's got enough left to keep it together, so I'll probably just leave it as is.

Welcome to BMW. Another example: if your charge pipe pops off and you lose the C-clip, you have to buy a whole new charge pipe just for the little clip. Not sold separately.

I think I have a spare one from changing the whole undertray a while ago. I'll check when I get home

I replaced the entire underhood tray a year or two ago with a brand new part (from the dealer!) for less than that eBay @$$hole is asking for half of a used part, FYI.

Gents,
I'm now in the same situation you guys were in. I'm in need for part #51758044591, the front bumper skid plate plastic, but do not want to get ripped off by the guy on e-bay. Most of the plastic underneath the car is damaged, so I think I'll just order everything (engine splash shield #51758046617, and the transmission belly pan #51757163562) but from the diagrams I've seen I do not know which part the bumper skip plate comes with. I know ShocknAwe mentioned it's part of the front under hood tray. If someone can confirm that when I order the engine splash shield the skid plate does indeed come with it, that would be much appreciated. @cpt97m3, how did everything turn out? Many thanks, Dave |

Dave,
I ordered the front under tray the day before you posted. It's still on it's way. I'm pretty sure that front part is included, but I'll let you know for sure when it arrives. I've been living with it broken so far, but I had to order a new fuel filler nozzle since the tire rubbed through, so I ordered a bunch of parts.

Sorry to revive an incredibly old thread. cpt97m3 , are you able to confirm that the engine splash shield (#51758046617) does come with the front skid plate (#51758044591)?
I just found that my skid plate has a massive chunk missing from right where the screw should be. Thanks!

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...43#51758046617 You probably need this one for a 135i Coupe... p/n #51758046494 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...95#51758046494 I would get it from your local dealer bc the shipping will be insane. And ordering it from your local dealer will avoid any shipping hassles. Dack

I can confirm the under tray does come with the small skid plate in front. I installed mine a few weeks ago, and all is well, although I do wish you could buy the small part that goes up front seperate.

Hah! I had my entire tray break and I had to buy a 1m tray AND a convertible tray in order to get my 1m front converted convertible a new tray. At least I was able to sell off the front of the convertible tray and back of the 1m tray together as a normal coupe tray to recoup some of the costs..

FWIW,
I ordered this one --> http://www.discountbodyparts.com/cat...l&N=0&uts=true Once it arrives I'll comment on quality, which I fully expect to be disappointed with. If you're looking for exact fit OE quality, the discount part is not for you. Yes it fits and is complete. But it does not quite fit correctly. The front is a wee bit narrow. If you pull the edges of the bumper in you can get the 4 edge screws in. And the middle screws are also a bit tight. Again massaging the shield a bit and they will fit, albeit not centered. You get what you pay for. And at a quarter of the price of OE you don't get an exact fit item. Last edited by iminhell1; 12-04-2016 at 03:31 AM.. |

Had some work done on my '08 1er coupe recently. the mechanic said to replace all the plastic shields under the car. I saw them...looked like they'd been in a war.
Will the Under hood shield part #517558046494 include all the parts needed? The guy saved all screws & clips. Is the price & fit better if purchased through a dealership? I live close to Atlanta so shipping would be less. Could even pick them up. Thanks for any help.
