Should I let the dealer update DME?

So I called the dealer to set up an appt to have my car brought in for the seatbelt recall. While on the phone he says that I need to have the DME updated to the latest version, and that they would do that at the same time.

I'm confused if upgrading the DME improves driveability or causes more turbo lag.

Is there a general consensus on the latest DME?

My car is an early 08. I 've had 1 HPFP replaced.
