E46 M3 GTR Lakeside first test day footage

Hey all, though some of you might like to have a look at some laps onboard my M3's first test day at Lakeside from early November. It was the first time this car has done some laps at this track and did a 56.0 sec lap. as you can see with how much I was backing off on the cink and also under the bridge the car has plenty left.

What a beast. Some excellent driving there Anthony. Looks like there's plenty left and your already running 56's! What speed were you getting up to on the main straight?

Top speed was 220kph down the straight. When the drenth sequential gearbox goes in it will go much quicker!!

I took the rear wing off for a couple of laps to see what it was doing to the cars handing and then it really became a handful. went round the first corner, hit the throttle and the rear just snapped sideways!! We didn't think it was doing very much considering it is really set up right and now we know that even in its current position it adds a huge amount of rear grip...

Awesome driving and sound track Anthony!
I assume that's running a wicked verion of an S62? Tell us a bit about it please, whatever it is...
What was that car that passed you towards the end? In the split second I could see it, to me, looked like it might be an RCR Superlite coupe from the USA?
More info and pics of your car please.
cheers

Hey Stu

Yes its currently running a race prepped S62 and I've got about 410RWHP running on ELF LMS race fuel. I have another S62 engine that is just about finished and this will produce 500RWHP. You can see photo's and more info on the car here. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=461110

Very impressive Anthony! I just love what an amazing engine the S62 is, still brings a smile to my face after 8yrs of ownership and their exhaust note is incredible - must be even more so in yours!
Have so many questions but will restrain myself...
Thanks for the pics, fabulous!
Did you have to sleeve the cylinder bores on the rebuilds?

Cheers Stu

No I have sleeved the bores yet. One of the only places to do it properly is VAC in the states and don"t really want to send them over there. If I have to do a rebuild I will get it done as one of the engines is at its max now and won't be able to get anymore out of it.

The car that I waved past on my cool down lap was a radical and we were trading fairly similar lap times.

I have two exhaust sytems for the car. One is an open twin tip side exiting exhaust which is very loud (V8 supercar loud) and the other has a pretty big can with three tips side exiting which brings it under 95db so I can run it on tracks with noise restrictions.
