But instead of doing it automatically you have to physically move the dial to the parking light position? And to turn on main lights you have to then move it further?
That is not too bad. I was under the impression you couldn't do it period. (but thats for "auto" DRLs) |

So guys, e90sexion approached me on PM regarding a single pic of my car found in another thread, but where my head lights can be seen.
I do in fact have depo's, I think, since they were on the car when I bought it... I run M-Tec 4300K H7 bulbs in both low and high beam. My car is a 2008. I took the nightfall pics tonight and the daylight pictures are from last time I waxed my car. I have tried capturing the light from the Corona rings to the best of my abilities. Feel free to ask for additional photos or what ever. /Dela High Beam Low Beam Beams of and only Coronas

Dela, thanks for the additional pics. I have a random question for you about the headlights, not specifically related to the Depos. I assume your car has the manual leveling control wheel that's built-in to the headlight switch? If so, do your lights move when you turn on the ignition, similar to how the xenon cars do?

Only cars with Xeon lights will the adjust up and down when first turned on. With regular halogens - the light level always stays the same - unless you mess with the adjustment dial. Dackel |

My headlights do not move up and down upon start as correctly described. Halogen equipped cars only have manual adjustment. Xenons have automatic. I do however know that you can buy an automatic leveling system for the depos. This subject are widely covered on babybmw.net (UK) and the german forum 1erforum.de has started discussing it too. There seems to be a lot of people that run in to some problems with this solution. One of the gripes I have with my depos, is that the manual leveling function isn't working. This function requires a motor, of course, but since I haven't fitted the HL myself, I actually don't know how it should look, work, wires or whatever. I will in the coming month fit xenon 6000K bulbs to the low beams, since I'm a bit tired of the amount of light from the M-tec's. It's illegal, yes, but I want more light.

my halogen headlights dip down and up when the car is unlocked. you can see it dip when you unlock the car and start the car immediately with the auto headlight on at night. i guess its part of the system checks when you unlock/open the door.

Does your car have the auto-leveling, or does it have the manual leveling thumbwheel on the headlight switch?

I will have to dive a little deeper on this subject in the coming time I think... I need to know how much and how I can fit auto leveling system to my headlights!
My car is going in for service and Bilsteins in the end of march at Schmiedmann's. I'll ask them for some of the features on the depos.

In regards to headlight remote adjustment... I know when I had my e36 BMW and I upgraded the headlights to Hella projector units(w/H7's bulbs)... those headlights came with a special plug in the back of the lamp housing locking the headlight into a "fixed" setting for non EU spec cars. IF your car was a EU spec and you had the little servo motor that can adjust the headlight height... you unplugged this socket and plugged in your OE servo motor. Maybe the Depos are the same.
