It's not easy to practice on the street for fear of getting caught. Launching quickly is a bit easier.

I reckon this will get me into the 12's.

Click on he link in my sig for more info on drag racing.

For a burnout, roll into waterbox and stop with rear tyres sitting in the water. Both feet in. You've already set all traction control etc to OFF. Apply throttle steady at say 6000 RPM, select second gear. Drop clutch and apply brakes lightly.

My big mistake was putting on new rubber that day. They were still slippery. Your car is definitely capable of a high 12 second pass Byron. Just gotta get that 60' down.

That was fun hunting you down towards the end of the drag strip. You were the gazelle while I was the hungry lion looking for his next meal (alpha male).

Yeah it did seem that way (and you seemed to be enjoying yourself). I thought I got away on that last run, but to no avail. Now that I've done it once then next time I'll be able to actually race as opposed to getting a timeslip. Or so I think.

Jolly good fun!

I've got the auto so I think what I need to do is hit it in first and then apply light brake!

I don't actually know but I could work it out.

We'll have to have an illegal BMW street meet there one Sunday.

Agreed, most of the passes in my M Coupe have been against live axle muscle cars that always get out of the hole far better than me. I then reel them in from half track to the stripe and it makes for some very exciting racing!

Beginners are all about ET. As you get more experienced you begin to understand and appreciate the actual racing. There is a lot more to it than just ET.

Byron mate I was just being silly about it, I have a long documented distaste for drag racing automatic transmissions, I prefer the purist challenge of drag racing a manual tranny.

The reality is you can have fun drag racing any kind of car, the important thing is to enjoy yourself.

Sorry missed that. It was fun. Part of me now wants to mod my car more (but not before some more runs), but i'd be better off getting money/time to work on my long standing project. And that is a manual and I know it will be a mongrel to get down the strip so at least i'm getting some practice in
