Question OT: Tunes for VW & Audi?

Hi guys..

Okay, so the obvious thing is to ask these questions of other specialist communities - but since many of you folks have been around the block, I'm pretty confident of some good (and friendly) guidance here too.

I was talking with a couple over the weekend about my JB4 tune, and they expressed interest in having something done for their wheels. One of them is driving a near-new A5 2.0 TFSI (presumably this will present warranty issues) while the other has a Golf TSi that's recently out of warranty. Neither is interested in performance racing, but just looking to see if there's a practical and simple step-up from stock for low hassle and investment. That said, I'm not sure if there's any significant gains to be made with these sort of cars as the base?

Any product recommendations to share? Any Sydney area installer recommendations?

Cheers!

I had all APR mods on my 2010 GTI, they are awesome. Just find a dealer in the area, and get some prices.

I had a Bluefin tune on my Golf R. Nice power increase over stock and easy to install & remove when required with the supplied handset.

There's a bunch of different tunes - GIAC, Viezu, Revo-Technik -- APR is regarded as having the best Australian support, and then it's a question of whether there's a dealer nearby

Bluefin, APR, REVO, GIAC can't really go wrong. I had Bluefin on my MK5 GTI but I preferred the APR tune due to more torque and smoother delivery, but that was a loooong time ago and things now may be different.

Thanks for the rapid responses folks! APR looks like a running theme, and an installer in Mona Vale isn't too onerous either.

APR is a bit exxy though, especially compared to the others which are just as good if not better.

With those two cars depending on spec:
A5 - might be a 'bench tune', that is, it's not simply flashed via OBDII port but requires removal of ECU and tuned that way.
VW TSi - if that's the twincharger motor it's fragile enough as it is!

Derek is his name, and he's a good bloke

APR has flash tunes for both motors, with good results in both cases. If the TSI is a 1.4 twin charger -- provided it doesn't have any oil consumption issues -- it can give good results. Plenty have been done, with no ill effects.
