Colour me cynical, but does anyone else tire of the endless tap-dance between the car companies and the tame motor journalists and moto-razzi photographers, who they drip-feed with information and secret locations where they can obtain exclusive shots of partially revealed new models? It's like a long drawn out strip-tease, and I just feel like saying "for god's sake get it over with, and take it all off".
I've probably said it before, but the interesting model for me would be the 228i. Given that the 328 sedan does 0-100 km/h in 5.9 secs, it is likely that the 228i will come below that, into what may be classed as reasonably serious performance territory. I think that if the performance numbers are right, I can see that it could be more popular than the outgoing 125i coupe. Putting an 8-speed suto in it is likely to be popular, too, as indications are that there are performance and economy gains over a 6MT. Would I buy one? Not at this stage. I have a few more years that I want to enjoy with that smooth, sweet sounding N52 motor. I also like the look of my car - chunky and purposeful. |

Some people say the 1 series coupe looks like a girls car. I don't really disagree, but I still think the outgoing model has tougher looks and more BMW character than the new 2 series coupe. Overall I'm finding it really hard to see where the improvements are.
