The bottle test has it at just above the 85% ethanol line. Still, it was a bit off the Rozelle Uniteds 90%.

The colour of the petrol component is quite different though. The United stuff was quite pale and with a pinkish/purple tinge to it. The caltex stuff just looks like piss on the top.
So did you fill up the bimmer and go for a run with the eflex?

I hope the caltex stuff works as thats what i plan to run mine on when i get my cobb!

Not yet. I intend to give it a go though. I still have 32 litres of the united stuff to get through first.

There is a clear distinction with the petrol component though. Maybe the Caltex stuff is mixed with poorly refined sub-90RON fuel.

I've always wondered what petrol they used in e85 in generali

I believe united uses fairly high octane - their 100ron is 98 unleaded, and 89 vs 98 at 15% would probably give 1RON difference in an e85 mix?

Not just appearances but the almost unanimous disdain for the caltex stuff, not just on here but many car-forums.

Are you going to run the caltex stuff at all?

Also whats the shelf life of E85, I imagine it wouldn't be much good after a few months?

Yeah, I will give it a go. But I will always test it first as I am sure they dont just advertise the 70% ethanol part if they dont need to.

No idea about how long I can keep it in containers but I use a whole one each time so I dont think I would ever store them for more than a few weeks at the most.
