Floor mats?

is there supposed to be some kind of velcro tabs that mount to the floorboards of the car to keep the mats from sliding?

my Z4 was equipped this way and there is clearly some pads on the back of the mats, but nothing on my floorboard. my driver's side floor mat keeps creeping forward and is starting to get on my nerves...

When you purchase floor mats separately from the dealer, they come packaged in a box which includes the velcro pads. Here's a DIY - http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5786

Were your mats dealer installed?

The driver side has the velcro pads but not the passenger. For winter (rubber) mats have the velcro for both sides. It looks like you just screw the pad into the carpet. When I picked up my car the mats were already installed.

my 09 135i came with the mats in the trunk packaged in a box. only the drivers side has velcro, mine had two little plastic covers that hid the pilot hole. the box contained mats and a velcro disk that you can screw into the pilot holes

The Rubber Mat set comes with 2 templates for driver and passenger front sides which you use to puncture the carpet. They also came with 4 velcro pads, 2 for each side. it took me about 10 minutes to install all 4, longest part was cutting the rubber hang tabs off of the mats prior to install.

Feyd,

you can probably ask the dealership for extras, but if not, just go to an upholstery or maybe even hardware store and get some heavy duty velcro (heavy duty on the sticky side, not the actual velcro part). it'll work just fine, I did it with the GT3

The dealer needs to install the velcro. This is a safety issue and recalls have been made for other cars whose mats slip under the pedals. The 96 Civic beater that I was driving around while waiting for my 1er to get back from Europe had a safety recall issued for improperly secured mats.

I agree the matts are a pain, every day I have to pull it back towards me as it creeps under the pedals. Good point about the velcro , why couldn't they just use studs like on my last car that simply press into place....
